Way to miss the point. Stoeten isn't claiming that his stats are bad. He's just saying that he wouldn't be talked about as much if he were Canadian. He probably shouldn't have mentioned the stats at all because it undermines his point but his post is pretty defensible if you can get past that. People here LOVE to pile on Stoeten even to the point of absurdity.

Man this run from Donaldson might have knocked him out of the MVP discussion. Unless he ends up top 3 in homers and on a tear like he did after Bautista went down to the All-Star break where his OBP was close to .500, I think Altuve and Betts finish higher than him, they might even give trout a higher placing despite not making the post-season

You realize we have 2 injured outfielders right now? Of course the backups will get playing time.

 

I think we have one great potential gold glove outfielder injured and a very good potential DH coming back. I think Carrera has much more up side in the field and on the bases and if he is 100% they would be a miss if they wouldn't utilize him more at least as a platoon player with JB.

Vmart was coming off a 167 wRC+ season a couple years ago and finished 2nd in the MVP voting and got 4/68. Even with inflation Edwin as a 1B/DH is not going to get 25 million a year for 4 years.

 

Edwin will be 2 years younger, can still play a bit of first base, the FA crop is weak and Papi is retiring. Those will all be factors.

K question on EE contract.

 

Why is everyone in a hurry saying throw 20-25 mil and just get him signed? We will already be paying 20 Mil and year for Tulo and Martin. That's going to be 60 mil invested in 3 players and likely all be declining.

 

Wouldn't it just be smarter to let Bautista, Saunders and EE go and potentially have 4 first round picks(assuming they decline) then when the 2018 free agent market rolls around which is suppose to be a very good one fills holes through that. We will potentially have a couple studs on the cusp of the majors at that point as well.

No, he's stating that we wouldn't talk about him at all, which is just stupid. Obviously we talk about him more because he's Canadian, who wouldn't want a home grown 7 WAR Candian on their team out of the handful of Candians in the league. But Stoeten is making it sound like he's a mediocre player. When your arrogant head says "(hint: none)" when asking about how much we would talk about him, you're clearly an arrogant idiot.

Because they're grading on a curve. He's somewhere between actually smart and the blathering fools on sports radio. Depending on where you typically get your Jays commentary, that can be an oasis of common sense.
