Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) That's rough for Bolsinger, his highlight as a Blue Jays thus far has been getting interviewed by Barry Davis. Well at least because the 25 man is legit. It's not like Bolsy is down because some s*** ball like Tepera or Schultz is taking up a spot. At least in Barffalo he'll get regular playing time. That interview made him even more likeable. He will be back. Shapiro was adamant on the radio yesterday they want to get him back to starting.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Watching Hamels pitch tonight reminds me of our thread last yr when it was rumoured AA was pursuing him before Price, but he wouldn't go to TOR. (think it got deleted) That's too bad with his control and price. Consistent 4 ish WAR SP, and a horse.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Pen is so consistent right now. We're rolling 7 deep now. Hard to believe we could barely get a quality 7th or 8th inning out of the pen a few months ago.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 A BP of Osuna, Sanchez, Grilli and Barnes for high leverage, Cecil as a loogy, and Biagini/Benoit/Feldman for mop-up duty is great!

Benoit will certainly get the high leverage innings as long as he performs. This is one of the elite setup men in the league for the last several years and it doesn't look like much has changed.

Hopefully he can find form with the jays.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Looks like shutting him down is not as guaranteed as discussed earlier this week. I'm hoping they go on a 6-man rotation with Sanchez skipping here and there

If you have a regular routine vs playing once every 8 days on average got to be different. I said 8 days but it could be any number really.

Like 40-50 pitches? I'd rather he throw those bullets during games and go 3-innings.

If you have a regular routine vs playing once every 8 days on average got to be different. I said 8 days but it could be any number really. Depends on the medical advice and I am sure they have a lot. Perhaps the injury risk is more acute when the pitcher goes out there before the arm has fully recovered from the previous outing? So the longer the time between starts the more likely the arm is fully recovered.
wamco Verified Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Pitchers go on dl with non arm injuries all the time and their routine is upset and they come back fine. I want him 100 percent ready to start in the playoffs so skip some starts til then to cut his innings. We need him in as a sp on a 7 game series for us to win the ws imo

Wouldn't pitching in games be considered more "high stress" than tossing in the pen? Everyone seems to be making a big deal about not necessarily only the number of innings, but also about the stress level of said innings.

I think it was the Braves with Kris Medlen which isn't the best example as he's hurt all the time. What's it called when you stack two starters on top of each other again? Has anyone mentioned starting Dickey for 4 innings and then letting Sanchez go 3? Just throwing it out there.
