I noticed a disturbing trend this weekend:

Every time I left the living room to shower/use the facilities/take out the garbage I'd return to a jam or a blown lead.

Yesterday I went to the little boys' room when it was 3-0 but returned two minutes later to find it 3-3, Happ having given up two bombs. Then I went to have a shower in the 8th and came back to Biagini nearly handing the whole game away.

Today I went out with the lady for ice cream at 7-2, came back to 7-6 with Sanchez coughing up three bombs. Then later in the 9th I went for a shave and after I was done admiring my thick, meaty biceps I returned to find Grilli nearly giving up a grand slam to Alvarez.

Luckily the team won both games but clearly I can't be trusted to leave the room.

The attendance has been f***ing fantastic. I love seeing the ballpark full pretty much everynight.

The real issue here is...Why the hell are you going to shave in the middle of the 9th???

Is this backed up by anything? It seems that every time a pitcher goes out and goes deeper into a game then normal, such as Sanchez did last week, the following game, it's almost as if their arm is a bit dead.

He's basically a kid too, its kind of sad to see.

A bunch of kids in my highschool used to chew during class... I don't see how its any worse than smoking cigarettes, or feeling the need to get high every day, or drinking alcohol excessively.

This is how I feel watching the Harry Potter and Hunger Games series with the wife. 11 movies' worth of eyelid stretching pain. And we still haven't done that last HG flick!

I've noticed the same. It seems to happen especially if a pitcher throws 115-120+ pitches attempting to get a no-hitter or something, and then their next start is a clunker. Sanchez only threw about 103 last time out though.

I liked the first two Hunger Games movies. Wasn't a big fan of the last 2. Money grab by stretching it into 2 movies ruined that final chapter.

Bah that's nothing... Try watching Glee.

Didn't you read his post?

Shaving was just a convenient excuse.

No because it's a bs article. The 'sources' (after 4 clicks of them) eventually lead to just an article from the Boston Globe that the Cubs are one of the team's that may be interested in him if the Jays are out of contention and make him available.

"Look for teams such as the Giants, Cardinals, and Cubs to have interest, especially in Bautista, who is still a good outfielder and can play first base and third if need be."

Someone took that as their source, wrote a new article as fact which your link used that as the source. Thus you have a stupid article with no real source. Internet.

There are other options Chicago could go after with teams out of contention or likely to be out of it--like Carlos Beltran (Yankees), Josh Reddick (A's), Nick Markakis (Braves), Jay Bruce (Reds), Carlos Gonzalez (Rockies). Jays aren't giving up Bautista while in contention--I mean, with a good week this week(4 with Philly, 3 with the O's), we could be leading the division or in the 1st wild card by next weekend if they don't struggle.

We play the s***** Phillies while the Red Sox play the Orioles. YES.

I predict we will leapfrog one of those teams by the weekend.

One of either BAL or BOS is guaranteed to lose at least 2 of their next 3 games.

Have to take advantage

And Boston plays Seattle after Baltimore, who are a dangerous team.. despite losing 7 of their last 10, they've got some serious power.. and Boston's pitching has been awful as of late outside of Price and Wright.

Jays are the only AL East team playing today.

Wow

Everyone else has the day off

After tonight we will have played 5 more games than Baltimore pretty crazy if you think about. I guess I would rather have the off days later.

Orioles have had a lot of rainouts so they are going to be playing a lot of double headers/not having many days off in the middle of summer.... I don't think any teams is going want to have to deal with that. I am happy so far,

And considering how overworked the O's pen is, it's questionable whether they'll be able to sustain their record, or will Toronto/Boston overtake them for good?

Yes. Would definitely have the extra off days in Aug/Sept

And, maybe more importantly not have to have the team flying all over to cram in make up games or play a bunch of double headers

I think their rotation can't hold up, they need to find a diamond in the rough to help them. Their bp has been very good, though they are missing O'day right now.

And we are way ahead in terms of divisional games too.

We have played 14, 10, 12 and 15 more than Baltimore, Boston, New York and Tampa respectively so they can get busy beating each other.

We have played over half of our total divisional games already even though we have 97 games left.
