Cyborg Verified Member Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I don't know if Diamond comes in and shitballs his way to a 4.5 ERA over 10 starts it's probably ok. But I get what you are saying. This team does not have great pitching depth. Especially when you factor in that our #6 starter (Hutchison) is guaranteed to become our #5 sometime after the break. Relying on either of those two for a long stretch could be a disaster. Huh? Chavez and Floyd are in the pen and can start games at some point (Chavez more likely). Even Biagini could go a few innings every 5 days. We would have to see like 3 injuries to see Diamond or LeBlanc for more than a spot start.

I'm typing it's not like you're relying on hearing me. lol But I digress, I've probably done it myself in the past. Anyway, check out the image. Injuries could easily happen. Further, I don't see Floyd being a starter again. Chavez yes, but I think he's out of options, how exactly does he get stretched out. I guess they would just throw him 3 innings his first start, then 4 and then eventually build him up to 5? Even so, after the break Chavez is our #6 SP, possibly Floyd at #7 and then Diamond at #8? It's not inconceivable at all that one of Diamond or LeBlanc is used for 3+ starts. I'd like to share in your optimism that only 6 or 7 pitcher will be used but history suggest we'll need more.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 superb article on how Bautista keeps in shape and numerous comments on diet and nutrition. Really good and long: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/jose-bautista-dominates-body-maintenance-game/ some other interesting notes -no mention on Donaldson in regarding to eating well, but Stroman, Goins and Pillar getting nods -throws shade at the Jays org for not providing the best foods I have to say I hate Bautista's attitude a lot of the time but he really is a hard working and dedicated person. I have him on snap chat lol and he posts a lot of foods(mostly breakfast) it's impressive to see him be dedicated to eating what he eats when he clearly loves food.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 The irony is that Stroman is probably worse at this point. But I like the "idea" of seeing Stroman for the first time even though it's during the worst stretch of his young career Stroman is up there on my least liked Jays list. Dickey has that Droopy dog look about him when another flat knuckleball gets predictably clobbered, but I find Stroman's tantrums so much more obnoxious. He plays with fire for no reason and then barks when he gets burned. So much undeserved hype coupled with tiresome, unearned swagger. It's like Lawrie all over again.

The Stroshow blows....right now anyway. If you are going to talk and tweet that much...back it up with performance. He acts like he pitches like Thor, but he has been more like "insert RHP over reliant on one pitch nibbler here". The kid has so much talent its frustrating to watch. To think we started this season with Pedro saying Stro was better than he was.

puphood Verified Member Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Jays and Sox for 3 could be pivotal for the Jays. I see the only big issue is we start with Dickey and the way Boston is hitting we will need the BP to step up. Dickey is just to hittable and I hope my pessimism is ill founded because the rest of the rotation looks good.......

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Even Red Sox fans don't want em :/ Strong is the force for irrational dislike for Jose. Papi routinely snaps at umps and even argues with Mgr publically in past. Has PED past and yet...he is a God. Amazing what being perceived as "clutch" and helping win a couple WS rings will do to get people to overlook issues that they see in other players much more harshly. I also like Papi, but I hope his numbers fall off a f***ing cliff soon.

You've grown for the past 10 years to hate a team and it's players, it's hard to just imagine them on your team. I personally don't like players jumping to other divisional teams, it often just doesn't feel right.

BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Just win one and I'm fine I'm there as well. Winning the series would be awesome but the main thing is not to get swept. It's the difference between losing three games in the standings vs one.
