I hated it from day 1. I would have preferred to see Hendriks get stretched out.

I seem to remember Liam Hendricks time as a starter as pretty mediocre if not really s*****.

Let's see if Hendricks repeats his success this year.

I already posted this today...

They got Chavez before they signed Happ or re-signed Estrada. If they don't trade for Chavez and either Happ or Estrada don't sign here, we could be going into the season with Sanchez and Floyd in our rotation with Hutch and Fausto Car-f***ing-mona as our 6th/7th guys. That would be a god awful position to be in....especially when we entered camp without knowing whether Sanchez could throw strikes as a starter, or if Floyd had anything left. If that's how the offseason played out - people would have the torches out, calling for Shatkin's head.

Could they have waited for the Happ/Estrada thing to play out before trading for Chavez? We don't know that. Would they still do the deal today, knowing what they do now (that Floyd may not be washed up and Sanchez seemingly can now throw strikes)? Maybe, maybe not...

Time to move on and here's hoping Joe Biagini becomes the new Hendriks.

I remember people ripping on me for saying I hated the trade and it would turn out bad. Yet here we are...

I've been peer pressured into "jif" but before that I was a staunch "gif" man. Let's start the revolution. #nowweretwo

I thought you hated all your friends anyway.

That deal was fine. Chavez can get the same outs Hendriks got (I think he hits 93+ in the pen) plus he can start and put up a sub 4 ERA.

The years of control are s*** but Chavez won't cost much if he's used as a swing man this year plus reliever volatility is huge and Hendriks is a reliever.

It was more of a win now move I think.

Plus he's a good friend of Donaldson's, his best friend when he was with Oakland if I recall correctly. If he help Donaldson to sign a long term contract, then that's worth it right there, even if he plays like crap.

So did you have easter dinner with Chavez? Cause for all we know Donaldson probably hates him..but hey if he'd sign an undervalued long-term contract when he's 30-31 please let us know. Let's be honest Donaldson isn't signing an extension or as a free agent here because we're not giving him 200 - 250 million for 8-9 years yes or no?

Why would Chavez being here for 1 year affect Donaldson's decision to sign a long-term contract with the Jays in ANY way? Probably one of the dumbest things i've read this week

Great segment on MLB Network this morning. New interviews with Sanchez and commentary. Hopefully they post it later today for online listening.

I remember they did a segment many months ago with John Smoltz and others where they basically ripped AA for using Sanchez (and Osuna) as a reliever rather than developing him as a SP in the minors. They've been pretty consistent in their praise of Sanchez's upside, whether I agree with it or not.

Haven't seen the videos you referenced yet, though. Loving all the Jays material floating around.

I hate Schilling for his past 2 years he has gone full derp but what he said yesterday had me finally agreeing with him on something. He said in the AL East the best acquisition of the off season and the one to pay the biggest dividends was going to be Shapiro.

I know others have pointed out what an insufferable prick you are, but I'd like to add to it. Somehow Sanchez making the rotation automatically means that Chavez has zero value to this team? He could easily be an Alex Colome type for the Jays this year. Not to mention the value he holds at the deadline, when this teams needs are better known. That's without calculating the other side in Hendriks.

I don't mind someone pointing out that they called a trade to be a bad one when it becomes a bad one (I do it all the time with the Marlins trade) but to start patting yourself on the back before anyone throws a pitch is completely Grant-like.

LOL oops you're right

News outlets using it for current stories. Sigh.

Does that qualify as the inverted W?

Basically. And while the inverted W is a bit of a red herring and it's possible to actually have that arm action and good timing, Aaron Sanchez has the bad arm action and it results in bad timing.

He has an increased injury chance, which will be compounded by starting.

Yeah, prematurely congratulating himself seems to be a thing for this guy.
