Elaborate on this mediocrity trap?

Kansas City Royals

The problem with everyone bringing up the Royals Rotation for validation is it's shortsighted. You need to emulate them exactly to be successful. You need a dynamic Bullpen. You need the insanely athletic defense and speed they possess. That stuff isn't child's play.

Also all that it indicates is that you 'can' succeed that way, not that you are likely too. There is an argument to be made that you can increase your odds of being successful using other methodologies. Also KC built their team around their ballpark. Nobody else plays 81 games in Kaufmann. Just things to consider before accepting this as 100% Gospel.

You don't need to emulate them "exactly." The point is that you don't need a stacked rotation to win - a run is a run is a run

Eeeewww.

You realize the 4 and 5 starters make around 40% of the starts for the team over the course of a season?

Can't have junkballers pitching that many games if we expect to make the playoffs

You al so need to factor in how many starts your #6 starter is goingt o make. Under this scenario, the #6 starter - he does not exist. Fail.

You mean weak groundballs that were either misplayed or barely got by the defense right?

Sometimes I think while reading this board that some of you guys would prefer if each game of baseball was a sample played 100 times to eliminate "luck"......

The Jays were only underrated by people who didnt know what the f*** they were talking about.

That takes Harold Reynolds out of the conversation. That dude is tuned in

There are no moves because the Jays have no money left to spend in the offseason. The trade front is quiet because teams usually want to wait and see how the FA market develops.
