TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 How were we not in on this for that price? Nothing special was given up, they get a great piece when he walks from the comp pick. His $8 million salary fits in perfectly with about what we have left to spend, if indeed we are going to 145 million as has been reported. He would have solidified our bullpen BIG TIME.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 It's already being discussed here: http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/4376-Around-Baseball-2015?p=833248&viewfull=1#post833248 f*** you.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Condensing everything into that one thread is so dumb. It's perfect for minor moves but I used to love coming on the board to see threads discussing the big moves. So many things get lost in the shuffle. Lol this is threadworthy, shouldn't be merged into all baseball. Give me a f***ing break.. f*** you. http://i.imgur.com/nxMBqb4.gif
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 You missed me there. I'm hurt.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Sigh. Really wonder what the Yanks could get for Miller. How were we not in on this for that price? Nothing special was given up, they get a great piece when he walks from the comp pick. His $8 million salary fits in perfectly with about what we have left to spend, if indeed we are going to 145 million as has been reported. He would have solidified our bullpen BIG TIME. Disappointing stuff. Yanks and Redsox have indeed improved over the off season we haven't
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I'm not that worried about the Yankees having a stupid good bullpen because I don't think their team is all that great otherwise.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I would have to believe this is a deal AA would have been all over.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I would have to believe this is a deal AA would have been all over. With what prospects?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 The Yankees bullpen is ridiculous. I guess don't go into the 7th inning trailing. Wish the Dodgers just completed that trade when it happened.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Next season is a new year and anything can happen (injuries, regression) and let's not forget Chapman will most likely miss a good chunk of the season, if not the whole year. The Blue Jays' offense is probably the offense of choice from any MLB team that would have the most success against Chapman. Travis, Donaldson, Bautista, EE, Tulo, Colabello and Martin is a pretty nice stretch of RHH. Chapman better not fall behind too often, or else he's asking for trouble. Welcome to the AL East.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I would have to believe this is a deal AA would have been all over. Yes, and AA + Beeston would have magically signed Price to a 5 year deal too.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 If a player gets 10 mill plus a season it should warrant it's own thread, otherwise, throw it in an all encompassing.

Chapman didn't really do anything wrong except the questionable decision to fire shots at his wall.

Chapman didn't really do anything wrong except the questionable decision to fire shots at his wall. Who knows. I can't see it either after the police said this. "Due to conflicting stories, lack of cooperation by the victim and witnesses, no physical injuries, and the fact that Mr. Chapman fired his gun in a closed garage with no one present, there is insufficient evidence to charge him with a crime.”
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I honestly think nothing will come out of it. I can't see there being a really long suspension (based on what's been made public) though.

However it wouldn't suprise me if we put in a decent offer With what prospects? I admit the past few years I haven't followed the farm as much but looking at the deal it's not involving any top names at all.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Yanks are banking on a lot of maybes and I think they are a .500 team. I also don't think much of the Sox. I think that if everything goes right for the two they can be a 90 win team.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 If there was ever a chance of Chapman being suspended, it's definitely gone now. No f***ing WAY would MLB suspend him now hat he's with the yanks. Unless the Yanks wanted him to miss the year for some reason.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 How can a guy be suspended when he wasn't even charged with domestic abuse? Is anyone even questioning if his gf initiated physical conflict? She suffered no injuries, and wouldn't cooperate with police. The f*** kind of "investigation" is MLB going to do that would unearth anything more? Whole thing is f***ing dumb.

This isn't the NFL pretending as if video evidence of a guy knocking out his girlfriend doesn't exist. Chapman and his gf got into an argument, feelings were hurt, nothing else (as far as we know) came of it. It happens.

I think that if everything goes right for the two they can be a 90 win team. Hicks was a good acquisition for their old outfield. They have Bird for depth for Teix. Castro is actually a pretty good defender at 2nd base. They will probably live and die with the health of Pineda, Tanaka, and Eovaldi, which is a scary proposition.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 How can a guy be suspended when he wasn't even charged with domestic abuse? Is this serious? They just suspended A-Rod for an entire season for not taking steroids, so nothing should surprise you.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Is this serious? They just suspended A-Rod for an entire season for not taking steroids, so nothing should surprise you. Didn't A-Rod give a public apology and admitted to him taking steroids in the past?
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Didn't A-Rod give a public apology and admitted to him taking steroids in the past? The suspension for that offense is 50 games. The reasons for the other 112 games are less clear.
