Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 Must be some misunderstanding somewhere. Noberto Obeso plays for gcl blue jays. Most of the players on this team are between 19 and 23. Average age is 19.7 to be exact, though almost all of the legit prospects are teenagers.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Wasn't there like a lady who had like irrational hate for Aaron Hill?? I can't remember the entire thing, but even when Hill did OK she hated him, maybe something personal I don't know. Todd is like that with Alford. By all means put him 15 or 20 if you don't believe in the skill set, but 105?? It's like the entire purpose of the 105 is just to get Alford as low as possible, to really put some hate on him. If Todd is real, Alford must of dissed him somehow. Maybe didn't give an autograph to his kid (if they are real). I think she was the sameone who incessantly repeated "AJ Burnett is a .500 pitcher" as the reason he wasn't worth signing
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Let's play a game. Pick one prospect from each group. The other(s) evaporate(s), say, in an expansion draft. Young Sluggerz --- Vlad Jr. or Bo Bichette Up the Middle --- Urena or Alford Highly Touted Arms, Suspect Ratios --- Harris or Greene Power Pitcher vs. Power Bat --- SRF or Tellez Spy vs. Spy --- Pentecost or McGuire The Lansing Guys --- Maese or Borucki Chubby Tweeners --- Ramirez vs. Smith Jr. The Other Lansing Guys --- Rios or Perdomo or Zeuch [pick only one!] Support your tough picks with arguments.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) Vlad. F yuuuuuuu, I love Bo Bitches Alford. If I'm going to play upside, I'm going to player higher upside... plus someone who can actually walk. Greene. When in doubt, go with the 'stuff'. *edit, missed the hardest choice on the board. I got Tellez. Closer and he's been a fantastic hitter for his age/level. McGuire. Don't see Pentecost catching. Borucki. Not a big preference. At least he's struck peeps out. Smith Jr. Just move him to 2B... just try it! he's no corner OF ffs! Zeuch. Always been a sucker for the giant pitcher... even if they seldom work out. Edited October 23, 2016 by z3r0s

Vlad Jr. - The 40 HR potential is legit and hard to pass up. I need to see a bigger sample from Bichette before calling him the better hitter. Alford - Better defense, speed, and on base skills. Pretty simple choice for me. Greene - Higher level, high 90's fastball, cleaner mechanics. Harris is better than his stats show as well though. SRF - Tellez is a safer bet to get some major league time, but I don't think he has the impact potential of SRF. McGuire - If Pentecost shows he can catch, then I may change my mind. Until then, McGuire already looks like a quality backup and maybe more. Maese - I'm a sucker for big time fastballs that induce groundballs. Ramirez - He's shown a far better bat, easy choice. Zeuch- I have a lot of concerns about the pitchability of Rios and Perdomo at higher levels. Their command of their secondary stuff is lacking.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) Young Sluggerz --- Vlad Jr. (Bo's Daddy was overrated...so in turn Bo is as well) Up the Middle --- Urena (our very own Alcides Escobar, just like everyone always dreamed) over our very own criminal version of Tommy Pham Highly Touted Arms, Suspect Ratios --- Harris. When taking suspect ratios pitchers, take the one who's third pitch is not telling girls in the bar that he's friends with Charlie Sheen. Although I do see Greene progressing to be a valuable pen piece. Power Pitcher vs. Power Bat --- SRF. How can you not pick the power pitcher over less-athletic Justin Smoak. Spy vs. Spy --- McGuire I'll take the one that who's innings caught is greater than his shoulder surgeries. f*** upside. The Lansing Guys --- Maese. Most interesting battle thus far. You've got the guy that has all the pitches and finally had a healthy season, vs. the guy that has 1 pitch but is showing some promise with the other two. Borucki is rule 5 eligible if they don't move him up to the 40 man. If he gets through this season I like him better than as a guy that you have to stash on the 40 for a couple seasons before he is close to helping. Maese wins because he's new and shiny...and that is what everyone loves in Prospecting. Chubby Tweeners --- Ramirez. After years on the DSJ bandwagon I have officially jumped off. Repeating AA he put up seemingly identical numbers, with a small power jump, but K % jump with it. Plus I don't like to vote against Colombians. It's why I was thrown out as a Miss Universe judge. The Other Lansing Guys --- Zeuch. Isn't a lot of mileage on that big arm. Most of his 5 inning starts he kept his pitch count under 70 pitches. Even if the swing and miss stuff doesn't stay around the contact is mostly on the ground. Edited October 23, 2016 by TheHurl
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Vlad - Because Vlad's dad was better than Bo's dad Urena - Alford's past history shows he doesn't have the will to win (or stay out of jail) Greene - His stats aren't sexy but he sure is McGuire - With Pentecost, pop time refers to his shoulder joint Maese - Because I literally just flipped a coin. Ramirez - He's got a 393 wRC+ since being traded to the Jays. Zeuch - He was drafted in the first round and he's white.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Easiest ones for me would be McGuire over Pentecost and Ramirez over Smith Jr. I don't think any of the other comparisons are easy at all.

No clue on this one sorry. Harris because ERA SRF or Tellez - ummm... Tellez, Fred McGriff was my first favourite player and I want to see another like that. McGuire -- cuz um... he will hit like 2011 Josh Thole, but have awesome defense Maese - younger Ramirez - younger, better Zuech - first ever pick by new great regime that you guys say knows it's stuff

Vlad Jr. : Dat bat speed and hand/eye co-ordination Urena: Switch hitting shortstop who does not have history of knee/concussion injuries Harris: More pitches means better pitcher!?!?!?! Tellez: Because I am the biggest Rowdy Tellez fan on here Pentecost: Because I will take upside offensive catcher over upside defensive catcher every time. Maese: Ground Balls! Ramirez: I think Smith Jr. is s***, and if Ramirez can hit 0.300 being off-balance half the time, imagine if he actually figures out how to hit while balanced. Perdomo: He throws with the right hand....which is the left.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Hurl summed up Greene nicely. That's really the best part of this thread.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 The blue jays have a very deep prospect pool ,but with Anthony Alford as our 20 best. He remains me alot like Jacob Anderson. And everybody is over estimating this guy.And Anderson has not done anything. After being in the system now for four years should be higher in the farm system. Soon or later you will are see it. So Alford is back in the top 20? Considering you had him in the 100's this is great progress!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Hey guys. I finally figured it out. Anthony Alford. f***ed Todd's. Sister and/or. Mother.

I'm not sure why you mentioned Todd's family I'll have you know You think you know so much about blue jays prospects but you are just jealous and really don't know too much so you think you know something but honestly I've just seen that Alford is not that good just like Todd has and you will know that when he doesn't get to mlb
