thought pompey and alford were closer in age... alford is actually a year and half younger

that makes it very close, actually.... toss up between the two

We'll see... I hope Alford is better.

I was referring to our farm system rank of 20-22. Would we be in the top half with Pompey?

While we're on the topic, however, I think that Pompey would be #1 in our system. He's got the physical tools that Alford has, but has also shown that he can hit pitching in the upper minors and the big leagues. That proximity alone makes him our top prospect for me, even if Alford has a bit more potential.

I agree. But I don't think Pompey moves us up that much but would likely gain us 5 or so spots. Assuming they consider Alford a top 100 guy (I think he will be) having two on the list, without too much depth, probably gets you around 20-25th. With so many good graduations though it's going to be a weak top 100 so i'd think Alford has a shot at top 50 and Pompey would likely be top 25.

never mind I thought Badler was saying 20th of the 22 revealed. Then I realized that they have only revealed 19. I can't think of 10 worse farms though

You just posted twice in a row, you're lucky.

Okay, maybe in a year or three?

Well Alford has more upside, so it's going to boil down to what you're prioritizing, risk or current talent level? I like them both and have a hard time picking one or the other.

Let me ask you who would win a Pompey for Alford trade? I don't have a definite answer so 1A and 1B in my books.

That's tough, I'd take Pompey, I believe in Kiley Mcdaniel's word.

Kind of is tho

no it isn't, 36 innings might not be a lot if you already have a long track record and a solid guess as to how good a player is. We don't have that with Jon Harris other than his college numbers. Its very unlikely that Jon Harris is a good pitcher and those 36 innings of awful performance against NWL competition is just variance.

Thanks for confirming that you should go on the IL.

Never claimed i was, i don't hide the fact that i base my opinions based solely on stats. I'm believer in performances over pedigree, draft status and how much of a bonus someone got. Take Jon Harris, 36 IP isn't an insignificant sample size, a college pitcher who struggled against NWL kiddies isn't going to amount to anything 99 times out of a 100, and yet many of you have him ranked very high.

Harris was younger than the average player in the NWL, he wasn't playing against "kiddies".

Wow, that was enough to land on an ignore list? For speaking common sense?

I don't understand where you get off on talking down to folks though, you're one of the least knowledgeable and informed posters on here.

When i said kiddies i was referring to the level of competition more than the age which really isn'tt great, something that a college pitcher should be able to handle. If you think a 4.02 FIP(forget the 6 ERA) and a 1.5 K to BB ratio against that competition was not concerning and doesn't mean anything when it comes to predicting his future than we'll agree to disagree.

Seriously if someone like BTS was hurling insults its somewhat understandable. I don't think i ever read anything insightful from Grant and yet he's acting like he's a great poster who shouldn't be questioned.

I just assumed that you didn't agree with my assessment of Harris, i didn't mean to put words in your mouth.

Jon Harris has a long track record. It stretches from when he was probably 15 until now. He wasn't born last year, and Toronto drafted him out of high school so you know they've liked him for at least three years now. 36 innings at the tail end of a long season aren't changing their opinion much on him.

There are so many reasons that someone could be bad for 36 innings...

It's unlikely that he'll ever be a good MLB pitcher but that has nothing to do with his MWL stats

You look at scouting reports and don't base opinions off of small samples, so you're obviously stupid and uninformed.

There were reports that his stuff took a step back due to fatigue. 2016 will be telling for the future of Harris

Its only concerning if he wasn't in jays system.
