G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 He's an overrated ass clown. This doesnt deserve its own thread. #entertainment
Thomas Malthus Verified Member Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I liked Lawrie but cringed every time he came up to the plate. And damn, I think Professor Xavier walks more than Lawrie.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 I liked Lawrie but cringed every time he came up to the plate. Oh yeah. Remember when we had Lawrie, Arencibia and Rasmus all bunched up in the lineup? There were flashes of power, but MF strikeouts for DAYZ
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I liked Lawrie but cringed every time he came up to the plate. I would like for him to turn around his career but I'm glad the Jays don't have a stake in whether it happens.

polar bear Verified Member Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Why is he a moron? Not sure if you knew but there's been a weird trend lately of box jumping. Harper at 55, then Souza at 58, then Lawrie blew them both At the same time ?
Thomas Malthus Verified Member Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Fangraphs - Brett Lawrie’s Search for Past Success Moves to Chicago Lawrie did stay healthy in 2015, playing a career-high 149 games for the A’s, but he took a step back on both sides of the ball. ... Offensively, plate discipline was the main culprit: the combination of an inability to lay off pitches out of the zone while posting lower contact rates caused his walk rate to drop for the third year in a row (his three year trend from 2013 to -15: 6.8%, 5.7%, 4.7%) along with a vast increase in strikeout rate (15.4%, 17.4%, 23.9%). Pitchers exploited this tendency, feeding him a steady diet of breaking pitches: he received the fourth-lowest rate of fastballs among qualified hitters, and even saw ten breaking balls in a row on two separate occasions. lol

King Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 That was impressive as f***. Sick of the Lawrie haters. Guy is f***ing awesome. I know he reminds you of the guy who picked on you in high school but its not him. http://41.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lz1knffgiA1qe1x8qo1_1280.jpg

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I'm still a big Lawrie fan. I have met him. Not that meeting a guy once means much at all. But he was funny, charming and just really nice to me and my little daughter. He called her "squirt" which she giggled at. Anyway, I like to think I can read people pretty quickly, I have to with my job in Corrections, and I got a good read on Lawrie. So, in sum, I don't get the hate some of you have for him. But everyone is entitled to her or his opinion, certainly.

baseballsss Verified Member Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Lawrie still beats him That's not even close. Lawrie was running Watt wasn't. If Watt ran he could easily get 70.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Red Bull should be on the banned substance list.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Holy crap JJ. Watt, that's extremely impressive for a man his size.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 The Blue Jays gave up on Brett Lawrie due to attitude problems? That's clear revisionist history. AA agonized over including him for weeks. Both the Blue Jays and A's were high on both his skillset and attitude last winter. Yup, I agree, this attitude horseshit is as you say, revisionist history. I've always liked the guy, seems to me it's the opposite, seems to me between the lines he's a guy you want on your club, behind closed doors no-one knows. I hope he does well, although that's trending in the wrong direction.

AA's hopeful plan seemed to be to get Donaldson and move Lawrie to 2B.
Governator Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 It starting to seem like a trend for ex-Jays to end up in a whitesox uni lately.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 It starting to seem like a trend for ex-Jays to end up in a whitesox uni lately. Well, most of that's because we've traded with them a lot in the past. (AA/DD)
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Only Daniel Webb was traded for from Jays and AA and Kenny Williams are no longer GMs. It's a coincidence. Correct, thanks.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Within 2 or 3 years Lawrie will be back with the Jays, probably as a buy low candidate on a one year contract.

Bautista actually bothered to make a note that he would miss Brett Lawrie - not so with Yunel Escobar and some other people the Jays have traded away over the years. Brett's will run through a wall and that may be his problem - hockey player in a baseball field but if they calm him down a little bit and get him to relax some - he could still be a terrific player. Plus getting traded to the dumpy Oakland A's - what a terrible place to play or watch a game - has to be discouraging which could affect his numbers. Beane trades everyone - he traded Lowrie away and then traded for him back - was he traded because he's a cancer - no. Jays traded Happ and signed him back.
