burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Who would have traded Stroman for Inciarte, Swanson, and Blair? Lol if the Dbacks gave up this for 3 years of Miller imagine what they would have given up for 5 years of Stroman. Probably could have got Corbin instead of Blair.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 You're right. Hutch is better at missing bats (better stuff) and has better command. So are you the only person on the planet who thinks Hutch is clearly a better pitcher than Miller? Good for you, I guess, if that's true.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Pretty filthy trade by Hart, I thought he was overvaluing Miller all offseason. I'm not even sure if the D-backs got better with this trade.
crmr Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Hutch has the better meaningful peripherals other than GB rate. I always laugh when people only look at peripherals. While it's a good way to evaluate a pitcher, there's always guys like Morrow who observably struggle despite great peripherals because they get hit really hard, and peripherals assume all hits are luck.

I agree crmr, Morrow would be a excellent target of this team. Could sign for cheap, and be a BP guy / starter depth. I like the way you think!

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Blockbuster deal: Donaldson+Revere+Colabello for Goldschmidt+Pollock DOES STEWART SAY YES??? Yeah. C Pillar (GG guy) 1B Tulo 2B Goldy 3B C Davis SS Martin DH Edwin Of Pollock Of Bautista Of Saunders Pompey
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Ah, we have a contender for a worse trade than Thor and d'Arnaud for the Dick
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 If the Dbacks offered this package for Stroman, would you do it?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) This is how I see the deal going down... Hart "Hey Dave, you still interested in Miller?" Stewart "Yeah we are, what do you need in return? We really like him" Hart "Well I just dealt Simmons, so we need a shortstop. Is there anyway you'd part with Swanson? I know he's one of the best top prospects in baseball, but he'd be a great fit here" Stewart "Yeah I think we could include him. Man these cat video's on Facebook are FUNNNNNYY" Hart (internally) "Holy s*** guys - this f***ing moron just agreed to give up Swanson for Miller - we've hit the jackpot" Coppolella "John, Dave Stewart's an idiot - ask for more. We need another OF" Hart "Good call John - that's why I promoted you man!" Hart (takes Stewart off hold) "Dave, are you still awake? OK, well after some discussion, we like Swanson, but prospect smospect, they aren't a sure thing. I need a real ML player in this deal. We want you to include Ender Inciarte. You're OF is stacked and he's got no power anyway. Chicks dig the long ball man. If I ran a team in Arizona, I'd want as many hot chicks in bikini's at the game as I could get" Stewart "Great point John - we should have a bikini promo day....I'm not even sure who Inciarte is, so sure, let's include him. I'm having wet dreams of having Grienke and Miller together" Hart (internally) "Coppolella, you're a genius, this guy is a dope" Hart "Stewart - toss in Aaron Blair and you have a deal" Stewart "DONE" Hart (internally) "I feel bad about this. Dave's not going to have a job much longer. No owner is this stupid" Stewart (internally) "boooooya boys - .500 baseball, here we come!" Edited December 9, 2015 by Brownie19
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Yadier Molina still exists, so A) Salvador Perez is far more overrated. At least Yadi excels at every aspect of catching.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 If the Dbacks offered this package for Stroman, would you do it? This was asked earlier in the thread but yes I think everyone would, which makes this trade even more of a head scratcher

Morrow struggles because he's always injured. 120 innings in the past 3 years. I have no confidence that he would pitch more than 40 innings this season. But I guess if we can get him for around a million i'd bite. I wanna see if we can go after Lee if he has a healthy showing
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 There has to be a way to pry a decent arm out of Arizona for very little (Anderson, DLR, Delgado, etc). Do they need a left fielder? Dat batting average and speed on Revere might be useful for them.

See Drew Hutchison, see all the idiots who kept saying he was unlucky last year, no he was s*** and hit hard and lost control constantly. People who swear by advanced stats and nothing else are as bad as those who only look at wins and ERA, the answer s somewhere in the middle at times. Stats are great mind you in most cases, but in cases like Hutch, Morrow they are misleading. Hutchw as awful last year period. Leaving pitches over the middle of the plate and missing spots does not equal unlucky.

I'm also thinking that now is a good time to call Stewart about Archie Bradley.... Dickey & Revere for DLR, Delgado and Bradley....get'r done. Edited December 9, 2015 by Brownie19
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Revere for Rubby and Delgado. I'm down.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Revere for whatever top prospects Stewart hasn't disposed of yet. Can always buy a reliever.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Try to be more realistic. Revere for one of Delgado/RDR would be good for Toronto. Arizona still might not do it for payroll reasons though. They also might not even think they need an outfielder because Yasmany Tomas exists. Sure he's garbage but what do they know?
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Dave Stewart has made some truly awful decisions so far. - $68.5M for Tomas - $206M for Greinke - paying like 2-3x reasonable value for Miller - using Toussaint to save $10M on Arroyo's salary in a lost season Arizona is going to be bad for a long time beginning 2-3 years from now.

In Stewart's world, Tomas is worth nearly 70 million but Swanson is a throw in. He hasn't been confused since that time he picked up a hooker with a penis.

The hire never made sense. They deserve what they're going to get.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Dave Stewart is becoming AA's heir apparent. ftfy Knew Stewart would trade Swanson. The shock on his face must have been priceless when he presented a contract to this young brother from Georgia named Dansby

Lets not forget the comments he made on James Shield last off season, when he said that Shields would sign with the Dbacks because they are a true baseball team, unlike certain other teams that are into analytics

Are you seriously saying this after what we just witnessed? This isn't a one-time mind-lapse, he has a track record of making s***** decisions. He would probably value Revere, with his AVG and Speed, the way analytical minds would value a 5 WAR player. We could probably rape them some more in a Revere trade. If we throw in Sanchez, a "tall fireballer with movement", who knows what it could yield.
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 A guy called Dansby Swanson was always going to end up in Georgia somehow.
