Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 With an injury prone Tulo and Travis coming off surgery I think it'd be best to keep Goins unless someone makes an offer which we couldn't refuse. You can find a Barney/Pennington type who can do the job just as well.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Goins is valuable as the backup infielder. If healthy Travis is the starter. Zero debate. Wilner is the only one who seems to think we might prefer Goins for reasoning behind comprehension.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I bet they QO Dickey and try and trade him.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Navarro is gone. No way hes back. He could get more playing time on serval teams.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Sorry mean't pickup his option.
ProfessionalAtBat Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 WHat's with the french questions? This is not the montreal blue jays. Deal with it
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I bet they QO Dickey and try and trade him. it's a club option so not the $15M more like $10M and yeah... i'm hoping they pick up the option and try to see if there's a taker for him given his friendly terms
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I bet they QO Dickey and try and trade him. They have a 12M team option.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Why would we trade Dickey? We are desperate for starting pitching, trading what little we have away doesn't make much sense.

art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 first brunt now zaun ... are these guys really serious that shapiro may let AA walk? i would think it's a done deal...

Dickey > Aaron Sanchez. Stroman is good, but Hutchison-Sanchez-Osuna are bigs question marks

Actually I'm pretty sure you know exactly what you are getting with Dickey. He's been a carbon copy for 3 years in a row. He's fine as a #4 or 5 SP and should be brought back. For a team that desperately needs starting pitching it's a no brainer IMO.

But for three years here it's been 200+ useful innings, plus the Dickey effect. I don't think you replace his production for a safer commitment than 1/12.

I am guessing, but i believe they're worried about the wear and tear on Martin. Also 12 million isn't GREAT value for your buck.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Why would we trade Dickey? We are desperate for starting pitching, trading what little we have away doesn't make much sense. You trade him if you feel you can do better. Lets not forget he was absolute garbage in the first half. All 3 of his seasons in Toronto the same thing happend. If hes our 4th or 5th starter you can live with that but he can't be anything more than that. His strikeout numbers have declined dramatically. Hes not getting swings and misses and tons of balls are being put in play. If his knuckleball is not effective it results in walks and deep fly balls. Not a recipe for success especially in our ballpark. If you can move him for value in which you feel is fair you do it. For a guy whose considered predictable with "200 innings pitched" every year. I consider him unpredictable just because he has a declining unpredictable pitch thats getting hit more and hit harder. It would not shock me to see his numbers completely blowup next year and be consistently awful. I would move if I could. I probably pick up the option though. In terms of value its there.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 You trade him if you feel you can do better. I am up for trading anyone on the roster if we can do better. But I see everyone wanting to deal Dickey and Goins, etc. when I don't think we'd get much and we could use both players as is. So by all means wheel and deal for the best you can I just don't see a scenario where a team that needs multiple starting pitchers is better off by trading one of the few starting pitchers it already has.

art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 declining unpredictable pitch that's actually a good way to put it. even just looking at his 2 seasons before his CY and completely throwing out '12, he was much more of a GB, low BB, avg K kind of a pitcher. In the years he's been here, he now seems to be FB, high BB - not a good combination especially if your home park is RC
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 AA isn't going to give a single answer that alienates anyone. Not after a very emotional and successful season like this one, which only ended three days ago. He wants everyone back, as per smart PR. This is all just a formality.
