Except everyone and his dog knew the Dickey trade was terribad the moment it was announced. Have never seen such a lopsided trade in 40 years of following baseball.

Hello Jose Bautista...at least we got some value from Dickey (still a terrible trade though).

Pillar will give you 2 war next year on a cheap contract, no way he's on the bench over Pompey and Revere. He's proven he's valuable

am i the only one who wants trade pillar? we have 5 capable OF (yes, i beleive in saunders, even if he goes down, pompey/bau/revere is still a good OF).

Sell high on pillar, use him as one of the main pieces to get a starting arm.

Id trade anyone for the right return...but Pillar is cheap and relatively valuable. there is 0 point in moving him unless he attracts the right asset(s) as part of a package. On his own value wise, we gain more by keeping him than what he would bring in a stand alone trade likely. He played his heart out this year and in the post season. In the end....the guy was even taking some key BBs. Great season for that under dog. Proud of him.

Seems no one is talking about the estimated payroll? Am I the only one who thinks the team should get a big bump in that department to the $160-170 range? The US dollar hurts but Rogers/Sportsnet probably made close to $100 million extra this year. That TV contract alone has to be worth $150 million on the open market with the ratings the Jays get.

Jays avg in first half of season was 300.000-400,000. Skewing 65%+ 27-54. Those are good totals, but bad demos. The 2nd half of season was obviously higher total viewers, but the demo stayed relatively the same.

I would argue that the contract is worth more to Rogers on inhouse value, than total dollars on the open market. Roges had an enormous opportunity to cross promote Jays and NHL plus their other non sports properties. Added value in MLBtv and MLB network subscriptions. But mostly Having the Jays get huge ratings on SNET will allow Rogers to petition a higher charge per viewer as determined by CRTC. They already counted on that increased $$$ when they bought NHL..now the Jays success will only improve their argument for increased pricing on Snet to other cable/sat providers.

A competitive Jays team is a valuable asset for Rogers, they can see that clearly.

Any thoughts on Saunders?

Saunders was effectively replaced by Revere. Only one of the two is needed. IF (huge if) Saunders is healthy, that creates a tradable surplus though neither would be likely to return much at this point.

Any idea when they are talking or announcing a new deal for AA? Thought it would happen this morning to be honest.

Has shapiro even start yet.

Think Tulo gets moved before one of these two!

Tulo was a longer deal and not cheap but unlike Reyes contract, he is a potential moveable asset for us if need be. There is value there. I love the guy. He is a warrior.

do you think that one of EE or Jose get traded?

Yes I can.

Not that I want it but I see first base and DH as a bit of a log jam. Jose has shown he is ready to give up right field. Arm is fading and fielding questionable at best.

So he is at first base.

jose/ Smoak/ Cola/ and EE for 2 spots.....EE could bring in a good haul.

And 2nd base, If Travis has any trade value I would trade him and sign Barney. Have Goins as back-up.

I would trade Travis only for being injury prone.

So a package of Travis, EE and sanchez gets you what??

I would keep Revere.

I don't even know where to start. We haven't had a decent 2B since 2009 and now you want to trade him and roll with Darwin f***ing Barney? Devon Travis was cruising to the Rookie of the Year before his injury. One problem hardly makes him injury prone yet.

I'm hoping that Dickey's contract option isn't picked up. Even if he is an innings eater, I'd rather see the starts go to a younger arm or Estrada

Also I wouldn't keep Revere. Ideally our speed powerless hitters need to know how to bunt period.

Pompey has to be playing. Sick of watching him steal bases whenever he wants yet we bench him. Time to put him in.

Surprised at how many people want to trade Revere. The team finally has a lot of OF depth, why get rid of it? Bautista looked awful in RF and Pompey is probably best as a 4th OF until he proves he can handle more. Revere is a league-average LF, and at ~6.5M he's not expensive.

Yeah, Smoak isn't good. Would have to be a trade in that case though, because outside of Davis there is nothing even moderately interesting on the 1B front.

What if you put Bautista and EE at 1st and DH. And have an OF of Pompey/Saunders/ Pillar/Revre.. Not sure who would be the 4th man in that situation. And keep ping pong around to play as a bat off the bench/dh/1st base.

For me, I would only trade him if he can net a decent starter, or as part of a bigger deal to net a really ood starter. Other than that he's my LF next year.

Probably SD. They don't seem to value outfield defense.

It's weird because the team almost has to do nothing with position players. It's all depth at Buffalo and pitching. Mind you there is a lot of need at pitching. But I think you can enter the season with alot of question marks at pitching as well.

I like Revere but we should move him. He hits singles doesn't walk cant bunt.

The issues with this team is;

1. Rotation. Depending on Cap could be a big issue.

2. Bullpen\

3. Are we going to re-sign joey bats or edwin when their contract is up? I prefer Joey over Edwin but would move both.

4. Outfield is an issue as I think Pillar and Pompey have to play.

We have far too many right handed hitters. We need to balance the lineup

1. What makes you say that?

2. How does he "prove" more without the opportunity?
