BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 You guys, I have a really good feeling about tonight. And regardless of what happens today and tomorrow, we were at least the 3rd last team standing and made it to within two games of the World Series, and that's seriously f***ing cool. Well said. Tonight is 11 of a possible 19 playoff games. It been heart stopping gut wrenching excitement. Now we go with Price and Stro to get us there. Not a bad place to be. Was thinking this am where we would be without Stro's unexpected comeback? Our rotation options past 3 guys is about as iffy as it gets.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Reading some of the nonsense on this board makes you think people forget that we have one of the best pitchers in the game on the mound tonight. This is David Price, I have complete faith in him.

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Was it really late though. I think he was only 80 pitches in at the time of the hook pitch count is irrelevant when you are late in a game and the wheels are falling off.
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 120 if he gets on a roll.... that would be the best. 9 inning complete game win and we would could throw the kitchen sink at them tomorrow. Yup, they'll be down by 1 in the 7th and Gibby will bring in Hawkins and Tepera for 7/8.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 pitch count is irrelevant when you are late in a game and the wheels are falling off. Regardless of how we look at it, Price should have found a way to end the bleeding. He didnt. Having said all that our fate will be determined tonight by how we do against Ventura

Insane sequencing luck, very late hook from Gibbons. I hate KC's stupid single slapping ways. Price was great last time out, not like the Dogg deserves a response anyway, seeing how he's likely only trying to get a reaction.

Having said all that our fate will be determined tonight by how we do against Ventura Price was great that game. If Cecil is healthy he probably gets the call after a hit or two...and we probably win that game. Price is still an excellent arm and if we play good D and execute at the plate tonight will be a W.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Except he has been awful in the post season. I look at his entire body of work, I'm not buying that he somehow is a different pitcher in October.

I'm hoping Hendriks has finally gained some trust from Gibbons. He's proven he can jump right in and stop the bleeding for us so I'd hope if Price does find some trouble he doesn't jump straight to Stroman or something stupid in the 5th when we can shut the door with Hendriks to get to Lowe/Sanchez/Osuna.

Without a doubt. Those options can get it done. I think Stro only had 3 swing and misses his last start. Save him and hope that he has his good stuff for game 7 if/when we get there.

Candide Verified Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 purely hypothetical, but if it goes into an extra innings tie - i) do you go all in and throw in Stroman and run with Dickey/Hendriks + bullpen on short rest in Game 7? ii) does Gibby?

After what I have seen this post season, I could see Gibby doing that. He talked to Jim Leyland you know, and he is prepared to face the criticism afterwards. We won't know because Price will get the job done and the bats will be adequate. GO JAYS, YOU GOT THIS
Candide Verified Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Absolutely not. would you take your chances with Tepera/Loup/Hawkins? If it came down to that, I'd go with Stroman just to live another day. Of course, ideally, I'd roll out Hendriks since he has proven that he can go for 4-5 innings while pitching respectably. Any of Tepera/Loup/Hawkins is almost a guarantee ballgame within a half-inning
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 It would be nice to see the Jays jump on Ventura early for a couple of runs in the first.
avatar22 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Regarding the Kauffman stadium issue, I am questioning how much of a factor this really is. I recall maybe one borderline shot by Donaldson in game 1, and that's pretty much it. While Rogers Centre would be a better venue for home run hitting, I don't think the stadium had much to do with our losses in game 1-2.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Must.Win.This.f***ing.Baseball.Game. Also thanks for ruining my epic and historic GDT winning streak of 1 game. lol. Go Jays Go!

All this barf in my mouth KC fapping by Reynolds et al is brutal. They are hot as he'll but they didn't invent doubles and gap hitting FFS. If our big guys truly connect it's out in any park. They just need to make some adjustments if they are getting pitched away like they did in game 5.

Biggest factor is likely weather conditions, it was really cold last time they played in KC, the ball does not carry as well compared to Roger's centre perfect hitting conditions. They will need to look to use that big outfield for hits like KC does. I don't mean they need to get all singles happy but this is a team that hit a lot of doubles this year, lets see them line some into the gaps like KC was doing at home. they always seemed to have a guy on 2nd.

Looking at the park factors K.C. seems neutral to slightly hitter friendly. However it does repress homers http://www.fangraphs.com/guts.aspx?type=pf&season=2014&teamid=0 Rogers center overall park factor is similar to Kaufman. However the homerun ractor is higher. K.C. 0.95, to Rogers 1.09 Putting it all together I'd say if you have 10 homerruns in Rogers center, 8 of them will leave K.C., one of them will become a double and 1 an out.... Somehow there are about as many runs scored in Kaufmann as in Rogers. Not sure of all the reasons. Maybe the grass is fast?? Jays hit a lot of hard ground balls, and liners to the gaps. Maybe these have a better chance of being single/doubles Kaufmann.
admin Site Manager Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Need dominant Price today, plain and simple. Ventura is s***. On paper it should be easy win for us, but of course it never turns out like that. Price today, Stroman game 7, we're in a pretty good spot.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Extremely confident Price will break through tonight. He had the Royals baffled up until that collapse the other day. Ventura has been hot trash so far this postseason. 22 baserunners in 12+ innings. We'll smash him. Get er done boys.
