Collison Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 So putting Escobar leadoff has resulted in him getting on base to start every game. Batting Gordon 8th has provided quality ABs at key points in the series. And playing Rios over Dyson has given KC a much needed power surge. Ned Yost is brilliant. Ned makes his mistakes but is a fairly decent manager. He blew last game, by not warming up Medlin early, allowing Cueto to get killed even more. Cueto had 40+ pitches after two innings and clearly wasn't on (the Jays were doing a great job of fouling off a ton of pitches. He then proceeds in the third to give up a single, walks a guy on 4 pitches, and then gives up the bomb. Worse decision of the series by far. I think he was thinking way too much about being up 2-0, but that is no excuse. The Royals were hitting well last night and if they could have kept it close after the 3rd inning, who knows.... However, Escobar leading off works. The statistics don't play out like the stat geeks want, but the Royals, somehow, win with him leading off. As of right now, Escobar could very well be the MVP of the series if the Royals are able to win the series. He is 8 for 14 with 6 runs scored and 2 RBIs. If the Royals hold on today, Ned is 17-7 in the playoffs in the last two years
Statman Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Wow, Rios started again over Dyson? Yost is awful. Your thread is getting worse and worse by the day.

Escobar getting hot in a series is so irrelevant to this discussion. The royals are 17-7 in the postseason the past 2 years, Ned Yost is just there. That being said there's about 20 managers in all of baseball I would fire in a heartbeat, it's not just Yost that has zero idea whats going on

Rios nearly cost the Royals game 2 with his godawful defense but was bailed out by Goins/Price, Dyson is clearly the better player. Also lmao@power surge with Rios
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 > Implying that Gibbons is ever out of full mindless f***tard mode He's just in mindless f***tard mode, not fully sometimes. He seems to find ways to suppress the mindless f***tardiness at times.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Perhaps you missed Rios' bomb today? And the one the other night too? Anyways Im not at all defending Yosts dumb managerial decisions just laughing with frustration at how seemingly well theyve all seemed to work. Royals have been on some kind of roll everything seems to work for them.

Ned Yost is the baseball version of the guy who was an alcoholic and smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for 80 years and lived to be 105.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Yost out-managing Gibbons is hysterical to me. Too bad it has resulted in Jays losses, but otherwise, being out-managed by someone as bad as Yost is beyond embarrassing. Yost has removed starters at the right times, used his bullpen effectively, and even with his lineups, their offense has done pretty well against a rotation including Price, Stroman, free agent year Estrada, and pretty damn good in the 2nd half Dickey. But whatever. This season, combined with AA's inevitable return, will prolong the agony of having to watch Wobbles manage for a few more years.

We can't afford this s*** with Bautista and EE likely gone (or at least one of them) after 2016.

Royals have been on some kind of roll everything seems to work for them. That's just how baseball is sometimes. Nothing is certain and even the worst teams can go on runs. The Phillies went something like 23-10 after the ASB. Yost is a bad manager with a good team, that's it. I will give Yost credit for how he managed his pen in game 3. Having Medlen eat all those innings preserved the core of his pen unlike that f***ing moron Gibbons that somehow found a way to burn his entire pen with a 6+ run lead. I love Gibby's lineup construction but the guy has been absolutely terrible at managing the pen. Between having Sanchez face Gardner/Ellsbury on short rest, basically banishing Hendriks from any high leverage situations, LOOGY Cecil (earlier in the year), and god knows what else. It just doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing. He's fallen into the trap of defining BP roles to guys that clearly don't deserve it.

JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 So hopefully we can re-sign Lowe, and go with Lowe/Osuna/Hendricks/Sanchez/Cecil next year. Everyone else in the Jays' pen I want nowhere near this club in 2016.

Atlas Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 How is this still an open thread???? Clearly Yost has made many a decision that people don't agree with here, but the results so far show little to no "egergious mistakes" at all. Confusing decisions with mistakes is....well, egregious. This thread needs to be closed, deleted, and destoyed in every way possible. It's existence is embarrassing.

Atlas Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 The worst manager in baseball should provide us with endless entertainment. 1. Alex Gordon hitting 8th in game 1. 2. Alcides Escobar leading off in game 1. I'm sorry, I missed the tongue-in-cheek sarcasm from this threads original post. Didn't know you actually agreed with everything Yost has decided, since the results so far loudly speak for themselves. Good on ya! Please...by all means...continue...
