intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I believe we should ban everyone under 19, so I'm a bad one to answer this one. Although I'd rather see a baby near me over a 15 year old. I can live with 15-year-olds. It's the drinking age shitheads that need to go in a hole and have concrete poured over them.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I agree that babies shouldn't be at major sporting events. There's nothing positive they can possibly get out of the experience imo, meaning only negative things can happen. Get a babysitter, and enjoy the game worry free. Better for the baby, better for the parents. I'm not saying that because of idiots throwing things either, I'd say it regardless. This is exactly my view. Isn't it a hassle to have to change/feed your 8 month-old child? Wouldn't you rather be WATCHING the game that you paid $300 to go see? I just don't understand.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 And I'd rather ban everyone over 40. I have fake ID so I'm okay with it (and wouldn't be questioned likely anyway)
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Why do people even have babies, in general?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Funny-ish story. I was babysitting when the Jays won in 1992. When Timlin flipped to Carter, I had to celebrate in silence lest I wake the kids up. I don't remember if I was able to watch the game from the beginning or not. I know the evening definitely started with a viewing of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Funny on that note we are having our first born within the next week likely and when i yelled and clapped after Jose hit the Home run my wife said if i do that when the newborn i sleeping i will end your life lol. So i will have to learn to be a little more quiet
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 There's nothing positive they can possibly get out of the experience imo Who gives a s*** about the baby's experience? Just because you had a little ******** doesn't mean you have to be a slave to it. If it's more convenient for you to take the baby then take the f***in' baby and f*** the haters.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Why should your child be endangered though? I can see advocating for noise protection but anything beyond that is just victim blaming. FFS, let's blame the guys throwing the beer cans not the parents please. They shouldn't be endangered, but any parent with half a brain knows that a game 5 could be a volatile situation. Blame both parties for a complete lack of common sense.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Why do people even have babies, in general? I'm always surprised by the amount of people who do. I mean I don't have a problem with it but I guess I just wasn't born with a compulsive desire to spawn. Seems like a lot of people are. I'm a lot more open to it than I used to be (and running out of time) but I've never understood the people who know for sure that they want one even if they're not in a relationship or anything.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Why do people even have babies, in general? Because women want them and they know we want sex.... Vicious cycle

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 If I ever had a kid I'd probably adopt. Probably better behaved too since I can threaten to send the back to a foster home.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Yeah, just import people in from Syria, Iraq, and Somalia instead. I agree that maintaining White Power in North America is one good argument in favour of having babies.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 If I ever had a kid I'd probably adopt. Probably better behaved too since I can threaten to send the back to a foster home. Yeah, you probably shouldn't adopt a kid.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Yeah, you probably shouldn't adopt a kid. The last part was a joke. Obviously.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I don't disagree that a baby is less work than a toddler, that's obvious, even though half of the babies there probably drank milk and took 2 shits during the 7th inning alone. However, ear protection is not dumb at all... it's well known high decibel sounds can cause permanent hearing damage to an innocent baby who doesn't need to be there to begin with. 5 years ago I took my oldest son who was 1 years old at the time to a playoff Barrie Colts game (stupid looking back) and left in the 1st period after the Colts scored because of the noise, he was holding ears and crying from being scared. He didn't need to be there, he wasn't going to remember that moment, and I didn't care about the $50 I spent. Sometimes common sense matters, this would be different in May with 16000 fans with the roof open. My bad - I was saying it's dumb NOT to have ear protection on your baby. That's a given guys - although reading back - I did not articulate that very well.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Sarcasm my friend. Me too then.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 That's a good movie... I didn't think so at the time but I'd probably be more open to it now.

Man it completely changes your life - vast majority of the time for the better. Think about how much you loved the Jays before last night. Now think about how you felt about the Jays when Bats hit the bomb last night.....that's the type of difference a kid can make.

It is simple, I know people like that and they're missing something in their life and think a kid will fill that void, reality check it won't. They did a survey recently and couples without children were a lot happier and healthier. Like I said, my fiancee and I print a map of the world and tape it to a tree, throw a dart and boom that's where we go every 6 months, can't do that with a baby taking all your time and making your life a prison sentence for 18 years.

Although I'd rather see a baby near me over a 15 year old. You can't be serious man. That baffles me. The best thing about a baseball game is seeing a 5-14 year old enjoying a baseball game. Hoping to catch a fly ball or get an autograph, asking their father questions about the game and developing a bond that will last a lifetime. It doesn't get better than that.

Don't reply to him (partly because thats the only way i see his blocked posts) but also because he spews bull s*** on here that Spanky called him out on and got ban because of it. He is one of them people who is a lot better online!

You jelly that I don't change diapers and have gone to Hawaii this year, SF, LA, SD, Chicago, NYC, Denver (snowboarding) Prague, Rome and Budapest, the year isn't even over yet and I am going to Japan to snowboard in December..... yeah you jelly.

I don't think it's that simple. Some people only do it to cave to social pressure sure but I think A LOT of people have a genuine desire to be parents and they don't have much more choice in feeling the way they do about it than they do in their sexuality. Now they may find it more difficult and less fufilling than they thought it would be but that doesn't mean that they regret it either because the compulsion was that strong. It's complicated and fascinating.

I can see why people want a child, get a mini version of yourself that you can go through life with, but for me I travel a lot, enjoy my money, don't have time for even a dog let alone a child, so it is whatever people want out of life I guess.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 You can't be serious man. He wasn't serious though he probaly wasn't insecere either. Some people don't really like kids and that's fine. I'm pretty ambivalent about them myself.
