The following are for the Blue Jays:

Brett Cecil (5.152) – $1.4MM

Michael Saunders (5.138) – $2.9MM

Justin Smoak (5.077) – $2.5MM

Ben Revere (4.149) – $6.7MM

Josh Thole (4.126) – $1.8MM

Josh Donaldson (3.158) – $12.0MM

Drew Hutchison (3.128) – $2.6MM

Aaron Loup (3.083) – $900K

Steve Delabar (3.008) – $700K

Just looking on the surface there must be a mistake on Cecil's number. Donaldson's MVP looks to give him a very big raise.

Non-tender Saunders but sign him back for less. Trade Revere for a SP. Pompey on the club.

Non-tender Saunders. You should be able to keep him on a minor league deal. And if not, who cares?

But we traded an ace for him.

Cecil's number is wrong and they are re-doing it. Revere is getting expensive but is a good fit for the team in LF (contact/speed). I would let Saunders and Delebar walk.

Cecil's amount is way off but the others seem reasonable.

Revere based on health is probably a better player and bet than Saunders going forward. I'd non-tender Saunders.

The big question with Saunders now is how will his defense be? He was a solid defender before, but who knows what he is like with his bummy knee now.

He also had the ability to steal 15-20 bases. That number may approach 0 next year. I would non tender him at this point.

I can't believe so many people in this thread think Michael Saunders is going to make it back to the majors. There's a very real chance he's done.

Torn menscus isn't very series. Lots of players have came back from it.

Depends on the severirty and location. Ive torn meniscus in boh knees and its not fun. Hard enough to golf, couldnt imagine what its like to play major league ball.

He had his meniscus removed because they couldn't repair it. He's probably bone-to-bone for the rest of his athletic career until he can get a knee replacement.

I'll take a flier 1 year contract on him.

As far as I am concerned, I am not sure which Alex we are going to get this off-season. There's the good-Alex we saw at the trade deadline. It's like the all-in moves Beane made last year except not only did the team not implode but they went the other way. Incredible. Hopefully our post-season results will also be different than Beane's.

Then there is the bad-Alex. He basically did nothing about the #1, on-the-record, off-season objective - Pitching. Still remember the press conference right after last season, how he was "energized" and "excited" going into the off-season. And then sitting thru it, the anguish for the first half of the season with BP blowing games, SP seemingly going less than 6 every night...

So going into this off-season, the biggest question mark in my mind is pitching. And this year, it's both SP and bullpen. Price, Papa B, Estrada and maybe throw Dickey and Hutch in there - that's basically our rotation. With the BP, there's Lowe, Hawkins, what to do with Sanchez, Osuna, etc. I for one am not taking for granted that we are going to get the good-Alex this off-season.

Everything else like SS/2B or outfield are depth "problems" - something we haven't had to deal with in a long time and are a good problem to have

If they don't non tender Saunders I'm going too puke. Shame were going to have to pay Hutchison 2.6M. Hes going to the interesting one for me.

Hutch is worth the gamble for that amount for one more year I'd say

I asked elsewhere but no answer... does anyone know if he still has an option left?

I would like to think he had money set aside for offseason SP targets when he gave up cheap help in Norris and Hoffman. It is certainly possible he gambled and won some goodwill and cash after the fact.

And Rogers has made buckets of cash second half with ticket sales and TV ad revenue

Anecdotal evidence from a few elite basketball and soccer players demonstrate that you can definitely play for a long time after a menisectomy. It's just an issue of pain management, really. A chore for the training staff. I think Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul have both had the meniscus removal. Basketball is probably harder on the knees than baseball.

Will his defense suffer? Probably. Will his future DL risk go up? Absolutely.

But will he be done for? I doubt it. He just needs to finally tap into that offensive potential a bit more consistently because the runs from his baserunning and defense won't be as good (or positive at all).

I envision him as a part time OF anyway. Him and Pompey can fight over LF. The injury just makes him a cheap option with upside in a 4 man outfield, really. With a need in the rotation the team might want to go this route and then spend on an arm.

According to Roster Resource, yes.
