Ray Verified Member Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 (edited) Gabriel Martinez has 2 HR today. Quickly shooting up prospect lists this season He’s been one of my favourite prospects to follow this season. Still only 19 years old, so 2 years younger than the average age in A-ball. April splits: .183/.290/.250, .540 OPS May splits: .369/.411/.714, 1.125 OPS 17% strikeout rate, 9% walk rate, .312 BABIP. So good peripherals and not outrageously lucky either. Home Run #1: 104 mph Home Run #2: 109 mph We seem to have really good luck with prospects whose name start with Gabriel M. Edited May 27, 2022 by Ray
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Any reason why Zulu was pulled after only 64 pitches? Hasn't he been consistently going past that?
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Any reason why Zulu was pulled after only 64 pitches? Hasn't he been consistently going past that? His pitches by game so far: Low A 59 65 73 High A 77 64 Does seem weird he was pulled mid inning (3.2 IP), but hopefully nothing.

InsideThePark Verified Member Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Dahian Santos done after 4.2 IP, 9 K's, just 1 hit which was a HR, 3 BB, 1 run. Last 2 batters faced were the HR and a walk. Line looked stellar before that. Just a casual 58 K's in 29.2 IP this season

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 Orelvis HR 14 Looks like he has returned to the no leg kick 2 strike approach. Might be more comfortable now to use it again
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 Orelvis has a 0.291 OBP Equates something like 0.125 in MLB. He needs to make an adjustment.
vaff Verified Member Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 Orelvis has a 0.291 OBP Equates something like 0.125 in MLB. He needs to make an adjustment. His BABIP is extremely low, despite the fact he’s hitting line drives about 20% of the time. Also, projections have him a lot better than that.
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 Moreno, G. Martinez and now Santos. Looks like the Jays scouts have done their HW in Venezuela. Considering they paid almost nothing for those 3 guys combined I can't wait for guy they paid a ton for in Luis Meza out of Venezuela. They really seem like they know what they're doing down there
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 Interested if they let Tiedemann go past 5 innings here. 5 has been his limit this year but he's done it very quickly here with only 56 pitches. 1 hit, 1 HBP. 4 K's

Great outing on 56 pitches

InsideThePark Verified Member Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 When is Tiedemann's next start? Wed vs Spokane? Planning to go watch this kid live They've been doing 6 man rotations with the 6 day series, Monday off schedules so it's probably next Friday

InsideThePark Verified Member Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Gabby Martinez with another HR. He had 0 HR in 112 plate apperances in the FCL last year. Already 9 in 151 in the FSL this year
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Matt Gage worth giving a look in majors at some point? Has some high K numbers in his minor league career and starting the year hot. Borucki sucks anyway and I can't even remember the other lefty in the pen at the moment.
