metafour Verified Member Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Arjun Nimmala just tripled in a continuation of yesterday's rained-out game, to go along with 2 walks. He now has 7 walks in 5 games. Obviously it's wild FCL-level pitching, but it's a good sign for a 17 year old to at least show restraint.

Season line: .308/.571/.538 with 8 walks to 4 strikeouts. Apparently one of the guys at BA just named him as one of the most impressive players he saw this past ~week in thed FCL.

Keep in mind college baseball has never been in a better spot talent wise than over the past few seasons thanks to a variety of factors, not the least of which is the reduction in minor league levels and shorter MLB drafts.

NIL has to help as well.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 NIL has to help as well. Definitely one of the factors. Not so much for the highest end high schoolers but the mid-upper guys for sure.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Orelvis has an OPS of .872 in AAA as a 21 year old now. Dude is going to rocket up the Prospect Lists.

BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Was silly how people discounted Orelvis for his down year. He was 20 in AA, and barely had any high A time. It was a rush job
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Lots of roster action in Buffalo today In addition to the Bichette rehab 2-3 and the Orelvis HR, single, BB.... Richards and Green both pitched. Zach Pop is getting MURDERED in AAA, lmao.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Zach Pop's xFIP is still just 3.83 in AAA this season, I think he could be OK in the long run still. Tough year for him though, was expecting him to be a mainstay in the Jays pen. Going to be great to get Bo, Richards and Green on the roster soon. If Richards and Green do what they can do the bullpen is straight up f***ing NAILS
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Orelvis has all this pop but still looks tiny in that video of him hitting a 450 ft bomb today. Scary to think he might have even more pop as he gets stronger over the next year or two.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 At least Pop has one more option next year. He's an up and down guy right now.

Scary to think he might have even more pop as he gets stronger over the next year or two. Aaron Judge was a .270 .370 .470 hitter in the minors and a .280 .390 .590 in the majors (or so) I was thinking of that because there is another thread pondering whether the Yankees are done for the next 10 years, or whether 3 young players will just massively out-perform their minor league stats (it's the Yankees). I really hope Orelivis is that guy for the Jays. Will end up a .240 .330 .480 minor hitter (assuming they don't let him destroy Buffalo for several months) would be great if he is our Judge.. not necessarilly 'as good as judge' but just a guy that hits the ball 450 feet and out performs his minor numbers... I guess that would make him as good as Judge... well probably not he won't get on base quite as much and who knows about the defense.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 455 foot home run good lord Someone needs to show Vlad these videos as a quick reminder of what to do with middle middle

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 All pitchers in Buffalo are getting murdered in AAA this Season. They might need to move the fence’s back in that ballpark.
MikeM3 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 People really argued a 1 k9 reliever was good. His fastball is dead zone barrel finder like Mitch White. If you trade for that profile you're immediately behind about 5 orgs sorry
