Hard to ascertain anything on game where it was pouring rain and then got suspended. Who knows if the hits were really hits or the result of s*** conditions. Ditto the walks.

I'll break my silence to respond lol

1. It wasn't raining much with Tiedemann pitching, almost not visible at all on the feed. Reports from the game said it was a little misty at times though

2. The 3 hits were a slider off the plate Veen popped just over the infield for a bloop, a fastball in that was a broken bat bloop pop up over 2B, and a bunt that should have been an out, but Tiedemann slipped and fell down while trying to cover 1B

3. Tiedemann started the game great, but then his fastball would keep leaking up a lot. 2nd inning he found his slider and mowed them down for 3 Ks on 11 pitches. 3rd inning was a mess, but it was just about 90% fastballs and Tiedemann had to drop velo to try and control the pitch more (some rain and cold could have impacted this). His slider was off that inning and he walked 2 after the bloop and bunt. Giving up 1 run. Got an out and K in there and was at his 60 pitch limit. Next guy in gave up a few hits and all the runners on base scored after Tiedemann was out

4. Since coming back I think Tiedemann has been super limited on throwing the changeup. Almost nonexistent. I think in the next few starts he gets to throwing it again as well

5. Overall he was wild at times, but still looked good

What is going on with the farm system?

Usually I don't even have to check minor league box scores because the board bumps this thread when anyone of interest goes 1/3. Thread is hardly ever bumped anymore.

So I went to check the minor league box scores myself and no runs scored yet except in Dunnedin, but Toman, the most interesting prospect there is 0 for 2 and hitting sub .200.

Only good news is Mitch White seems to be handling A-ball OK.

It's early but how can the entire organization be in a deep slump except for a couple of college kids in Vancouver?

We should send the team's President Emeritus down there to sort things out.

I was at the game tonight. As I stated before, there is not much to see here. Toman actually had a decent night with 2 shots to the warning track and a spectacular play at short to end a threat. Pinto, who might be shorter than Kirk, had a couple line drive singles.

Mitch White was just ok...a lot of hard contact went for outs. He topped out at 92 but his slider looked good. Lefty Rojas was the best pitcher on both teams tonight with fastball at 94 and a pretty decent slider...had a lot of swing and misses.

That's it for me for the baby Jays. Will try to hopefully catch Barriera on Friday in Clearwater before heading home on Sunday.

Thank god the weather was fabulous and I

was able to get a lot of golf in because the baseball was a bust.

Hitting:

Manuel Beltre was scorching hot hit like .500, but got hit in the face a little while back and I think broke his nose. Hopefully isn't our too much longer

Toman hasn't been good

Gabriel Martinez went 3-4 with a HR at A+ tonight

Rainer Nunez got off to a slow start, but had a 3 game hit streak and was 5/13 with a 2B and a HR. Then went on the Temporary Inactive List for the last week

Orelvis went 3/16 with 2 HRs over the last 4 games, but then hasn't played this week

Palmegiani just hit 2 HRs and is hitting .234 with a .446 OBP

Barger broke out a big slump with a 3-3 today, all singles

Pitching:

Pearson came up here

Zulueta hasn't been good. 10 IP, 12 K, 8 BB, 8 ER

Tiedemann well discussed

Robberse ok. 18 IP, 19 K, 10 BB, 14 H

Santos same as a few, 6.1 IP, 10 K, 7 BB

Macko 1 G, was good mainly

Another strong outing

Only 1 walk too. That makes his first three starts:

5 IP - 11K/1BB

4.2 IP - 5K/6BB (oof)

5 IP - 6K/1 BB

He's a bit old for the level but clearly the stuff is there. If he can get the walks down he's an actual starting pitching prospect, if he can't he's probably in the bullpen by next season with a good chance to move quickly if the stuff plays up even more. The bulk of his innings this year ideally should come in AA and hopefully a taste of AAA if it goes well.

Brandon Barriera development will be interesting to follow. He mentioned on draft night he likes how aggressive the Blue Jays have been with promotions. He noted both Manoah and Tiedemann. He wants to be pushed and quite frankly you push them until they get hit. I don't really like how Minor League starters spend months dominating the same hitters. Just keep pushing them until they get hit.

Very few teams slow play pitching prospects these days

Macko hot hit around pretty good last night.

3.2, 10H, 8ER, 1BB, 5K, 0HR

5 K's and 1BB are good...but when they got the bat on it, they did damage.

He should have tried cold hitting I guess.

He didn't give up any homeruns. Could have been plagued by s*** defense.

Rainer Nunez 4-4, with a 3B, up to .250 after a slow start and missing a week or so

Gabriel Martinez 2-5 with a 3B, up to .250 as well

Manuel Beltre back goes 1-4 with a 2B as a DH

AA canceled again. Tiedemann has had 2 games in a row pushed back

Cause of rain and a double header, Orelvis has played 2 games in a week or so

According to Baseball-Savant, here's Barriera's spin rates and velo:

4-seam Fastball: 93-95 mph, 2300-2500

Slider: 83-86 mph, 2600-2800 RPM

Changeup: 86-87 mph, 1500 RPM

Great velo for a Lefty and a pretty decent spin rate. Lots of good stuff to work with there.

Velo will probably go to the upper 90s in a year or so too. So much projectability.
