I should clarify when I said never starve yourself. I was referring more to the people who skip meals and don’t eat enough at any point during the day.

Intermittent fasting is option for some people. I personally am not a fan of it. And I also wouldn’t recommend it on a weight lighting program. If your goal is just to lose weight it could be effective for you. Its also much easier time wise if you’re someone who doesn’t have time to eat multiple times a day. But you still have to workout and exercise to see the results you want. I personally don’t like working out on empty but that’s just me.

I think it depends on the person, I routinely weight lift in a fasted state. Granted, I lift more with the intention of building functional strength and stability than to hit PR's, but in my younger years I did power lifting in a fasted state and was fine.

So related to what you are saying, I personally find in the month of Ramadan that my mental acuity is at it's peak. To use an example, when I play baseball in Ramadan I find that I am more dialed in on pitch locations and making contact. I once read an evolutionary theory for this. In a hunter gatherer society a hunter who was hungry would have to be more focused because if they failed to hunt food in that state they would die. Conversely a hunter with a full belly had less on the line and thus would presumably fare worse.

I think it's 100% true and verifiable by most people. Maybe genetics play a role and some would not see benefits. But when I don't eat breakfast and lunch because I'm trying to lose 5 pounds before my next orgy and am planning on having a 2000 calorie dinner that night, I tend to get hyper-focused at work in the afternoon. Just hunter-gathering these word documents and emails like a f***ing animal. Absolutely slaying phone calls and devouring people's organs over the phone.

I'm glad it's not just me.

I feel like our bodies are sort of meant or designed to go without food for certain periods of time; I always feel a lot of mental clarity when I do something like time restricted eating.

Humans are 100% evolved with smaller stomachs and digestive tracts similar to other Apex-carnivores, which is exactly why One-Meal-A-Day (OMAD) and Intermittent Fasting works so well for those who can tolerate the adaptation period of switching from "3-4 meal per day" eating. Our undersized stomachs mean that we SHOULD be primarily eating nutrient and energy dense foods (ie: animal fats and proteins) which is what is/was observed in every tribal society on Earth (regardless of the culture or continent). Carb (sugar) and plant-based diets are a complete transgression of evolutionary biology and anthropology, hence why they result in complete energy crashes and zero sustenance (you eat, and then you're hungry ~2-3 hours later).

Intermittent fasting is in obvious agreement with our evolution as hunter-gatherers. You would hunt, kill an animal, feast on it...and that would be your caloric intake save for a few berries or foraged fruits (which would be extremely small quantity and completely seasonal). That meal would power you through the entire day, giving humans the freedom to LEARN and GET SMARTER. That is what makes humans human, versus other primates which must spend most of their waking day eating low-energy plant foods.

Placebo is more powerful than most things you can do to your body so if you think you're sharper, you'll be sharper. But now that I said that you probably will have that thought in the back of your mind and I just ruined your life.

Not sure if I agree. Placebo Polanco had average power at best.

Part of the reason you are experiencing this is likely that your body has temporarily entered ketosis and has started burning ketones for energy rather than carbs. The brain runs extremely well on ketones, and the body produces the small amounts of sugar that it needs.

Martin sucking ass as well. We robbed the Twins blind.

He has a .388 On Base Percentage with the Twins AA team. Explain to me how he sucks ass. I’ll wait.

Getting on base that much in the minors isn't that impressive if it comes with no ability to hit for power. MLB pitchers won't be scared to pump this kid strike after strike if they have no respect for his power. s***, even Biggio, who has a far worse hit tool, probably projects to be a better MLB hitter than him cause he at least has like 50 grade power or whatever MLB average power is..

Because he has no power and (as far as I know) is not elite at short stop. Looks like Russ Adams right now.

For a while it looked like Martin might be a Craig Biggio like freak, with so many walks and hit by pitch that he'd put up a great on base percentage and have some line drive power. I think he was at almost .450 at his high point.

That bubble kind of burst, a .388 obp is good but not elite in the minors.

The other thought was that Martin had a bad hand, and would hit for power when it healed. A couple of weeks ago he hit like 3 homers in a week or something and it looked like that might be true, but now it doesn't look like it is true.

lol. With injuries and the missing season everything changes week to week with these guys.

I think it’s way to early to make this determination. Especially considering hes been banged up most of this season. Big difference between not living up to expectations and sucking ass. Its going to be a few years until we can properly evaluate this trade. And the Blue Jays being able to retain Berriors is going to play a large role as well.

No for sure, you are definitely right that it's too early to determine who won the trade. Both players could take step forwards. There's a reason both were borderline top 50 prospects to enter the season. However, based on the public info we can gather right now about both SWR and Martin it seems like we might have done well to sell high on both of them.

If Martin gets tapped into his power, he could be a monster. His peripherals are good, saying he sucks ass, is a swing and miss.

I don't think he sucks ass but that .380 SLG leaves much to be desired.

Since you were patient…

You know who else is in the top 10 in OBP at AA this year? Otto Lopez and Samad Taylor. Does this mean these guys are good? No it means pitching down at that level is hot garbage.

No power, crappy defense and a mediocre hit tool that was supposed to be his calling card. The only thing keeping him relevant is his draft position but once recency bias fades, everyone will agree that he indeed sucks ass.

s*** buddy you got it all figured out. My appolgies for questioning you after this astute evaluation of a prospect that I’m sure you have seen play many times. I know you know a family friend or 2. What do you think is the real issue is? Is it the hair? Does his girlfriend need to be hotter?

His career has been determined in about 200 Minor League ABs. Good work. Jays should hire you. Will really streamline our scouting department

Nice rebuttal.

I'm surprised you know what baseball is being in the shithole that is Courtice.

Thanks! Why don't you change the avatar to a real prospect?

I’m assuming you have never been because it’s a lot of things but a shithole isn’t one of them lol. Everything is basically brand new and clean.

It's the Oshawa Proximity Factor coming into play...
