Yordan Alvarez. 18HR, 18.8K% and 14.2BB% .489 OBP, 216 wRC+.

That one is the crime.

As a fantasy owner, I really wish I knew the answer to this

I wonder if it's a Giolito situation... maybe his s*** was overrated + there was some young decline.

Hmmmmm

Some quick scouting reports on AA guys by 2080 baseball

Nate Pearson, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays (New Hampshire Fisher Cats)

Improved control and off-speed consistency have led to a dominant start to 2019; frontline starter upside with the power stuff to close games if he needs a fallback.

Kevin Smith, INF, Toronto Blue Jays (New Hampshire Fisher Cats)

Pull-heavy, power-focused approach has struggled so far in first taste of Double-A; still shows the baseline offensive tools to be a bat-first everyday infielder with adjustments.

Patrick Murphy, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays (New Hampshire Fisher Cats)

Physical frame with high-90s fastball and flashes of above-average curveball; lack of third pitch and injury history likely point to setup relief role long-term.

We really need Patrick Murphy to turn into an acceptable starter for the health of this team over the next few years...

It'd obviously be nice, but I'm willing to bet our future rotation for when we're competitive will comprise of players that aren't even in the system. No one in 2015 could've predicted that Verlander/Cole/Miley would be spearheading the Astros rotation right now.

No question. Predicting the Jays 2021 rotation is a fool's errand.

If we could have Stroman, Pearson, and Murphy as decent to excellent pieces that would make the job of finishing up the rotation a f***wad easier.

Everyone is losing their minds in here because Biggio hasn't been called up yet.

Try being Kevin Cron https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa597807&position=1B

26 year old first baseman for Arizona

21 HRs in 194 PA's, 13.9 BB% 16.5 K%, .335/.432/.807 slash line and a wRC+ of 185 in AAA

15 of those HR's in Reno (along with 8 doubles). Tomas has 9 at home too. Even if Lunchbox only has 4 HR's, it is a better hitters park than old Vegas.

Still he has done enough to earn a shot.

Ljay Newsome is absurd this season.

He leads the minors in strikeouts. In 58 1/3 IP, he has 82 K and 6 BB lol.

That's:

12.65 K/9

0.93 BB/9

Might be time for the Mariners to move him up to AA, but what do I know.

Today: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K

Last five starts: 1.59 ERA, 38 K/4 BB in 34 innings

At this pace, the Jays will need to sign at least two decent starters going forward. Man, I hope they can somehow extend Stroman.

Crazy difference in the run environment in the Eastern League last year and International League this year.

Biggio's .252/.388/.499 was good for a 145 wRC+ in AA last year.

His .306/.440/.507 is a 149 wRC+ in AAA.

Chavez Young had his second homer in two games. Hopefully, he's turning it around.

If Alford keeps this up I think he will be up soon

Keeps what up? Being terrible at baseball?

Hitting .325 over the last 10 games

He has a 104 wRC+ over those 10 games, striking out 31% of the time and only walking 9%, with a .050 ISO. He's still been terrible, and he's no longer young enough to excuse such poor play.

People just don't want to admit todd was right. He tried to tell us... we just wouldn't listen.

No posts for several days, huh? Let me end that streak then.

Forrest Wall has gone 4-for-5 today with a homer, just his second of the season.

Riley Adams did not homer (unlike the last two games he played), but he did go 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. He did not strike out, which is great to see after he started his stay in AA with a whole bunch of Ks.

Otto Lopez somehow has gone exactly two-for-four in each of his last six games, he's now at .308/.368/.396 for the season. While the power is lacking, Otto has gone seven games without a strikeout.

Gabriel Moreno hit his second homer, now at .313/.324/.563 over just 9 games.

Otto Lopez has a ton of raw talent, the bat has some upside and he’s on an impressive multi-hit game streak. But he’s a bit of a bonehead sometimes, little league fielding and baserunning errors on the regular. The guy could use some seasoning in A ball and he’s still pretty young, I had him as my sleeper pick entering the year based on his flashes of strong tools down in Vancouver and Rookieball. Time will tell if the power can develop in his bat, he could be something a few years down the road.

For those worried about Riley Adams after his double-A promotion, entering the weekend he’s been heating up the last 15 days: .389/.439/.722, OPS 1.161 in NH. He’s got a 232 wRC+ in that 11 game stretch.

Looks like his Dunedin offence wasn’t a complete fluke. The 2017 3rd round pick should be rising in our top 30 list for the next update. If he keeps hitting like this, top 10 BJ prospect post-Vlad era isn’t out of the question.

And yes Alejandro Kirk is still mashing in Dunedin.

I’m planning to get an article up on some of these BJ prospects in maybe two week’s time, it will be based on their performance the first two months. Currently working on something that should be posted this week.

Everything will be on the RadioScouts blog for your viewing pleasure.

Anyone have any news on Eric Pardinho? Last I heard he was in extended ST. This elbow thing is lasting longer than I had hoped. Should we be concerned?

The odds that Eric Pardinho will make it to and through his first MLB season without a major surgery are what... 10%? Slightly better than that? Less!?

Not sure I agree with your odds there

Is there a publicly accessible API or database for which people can get access to the last 20 years of minor league data?? If so do a search for all teenage pitchers, of a certain size, velocity, k-rate, etc... try to make Pardinho average for the group, try to make the group large enough that the statistics mean something...

I'm sure you know all this judging from your z-score articles. Perhaps it's just the mechanics of accessing the data, or the lack of availability that would be the hard part. If you find a decent data source, propose it for a 4th year project for a waterloo/UofT comp-sci/engineer. Or if you want pay make it an internship.
