Gurribabip is back baby, babip over 400, bb < 2%, and everyone thinks he is good again..

How can SRF be this bad? Even in my worst dreams I never thought he would be this bad, He must be raging alot again or hurt? I know he has/had major anger/rage issues...

Also maybe Pearson is good? Hopefully im wrong, but he looks bad in most videos of him in AFL, ST.

Also Process >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Results

Gurribabip is not good at base

You should quote all of the posts from 'everyone' saying he's good.

And right below him you have recently turned 18 year old Wander Franco with more walks than strikeouts and a .257 ISO. Ridiculous.

Can't wait until he signs an 8 year, $10 million (total) contract with 2 team options with the Rays. They always find a way.

(I hate the Rays).

He's the worst, lol. I feel bad you can't IL him, but he gets his bait. You included.

I'm a little curious to know what tercets thoughts are on Cavan Biggio. Less than 20% k-rate so far, and he walks a lot with good power. Is he going to cite contact issues? Or the good ol' "crushes mistakes and misses on good pitches"?

Wander also doesn't have an obscene BABIP propping up his numbers...

The last few pages on this thread.

Twitter, Rogers/Sportsnet propoganda articles, etc

You personally have yo-yo'ed in the last year between he is good and bad... But you will never admit to that lol, will prob just ban me or delete my posts, being honest isn't a trait that you have.

Why wont juiced respond to my pms? In the past he usually would.

You lost the last bet (thanks for the $500). Maybe time for a new bet and try to regain some cred.

A high BABIP in the minors is usually an indicator of solid contact, I wouldn't dismiss it as strongly as you would a high BABIP in the majors. Franco is far more impressive obviously, but Groshans is very exciting as well.

I don't know why, but when you call him Gurribabip I literally want to slash up. No one uses it, no one will, it feels forced, and it's not clever.

A few comments:

1) I've seen a few people point out his numbers in AAA, but I don't think I've seen much optimism beyond that. Do you mind quoting the posts you think are unreasonably optimistic?

2) Literally nobody here cares what people on sportsnet or reddit think.

3) IIRC my opinion on Gurriel over the years as gone something like:

2016 - cool, the Jays signed a highly regarded prospect

2017 - damn, Gurriel isn't hitting very well

2018 - ok, the bat looks like it might be average. if he can defend at an average level he'll be a decent player

2019 - f***, the defense sucks and he might not hit enough to make up for it

So yeah, my opinion has evolved over the 2-3 years he's been in the org. Of course it has. He was signed as a huge-variance player out of a situation with literally no information on him as a player.

I said this, but much shorter.

Fair points by you and Spank. Franco just has a lot better peripheral stats (K/BB ratio, ISO, lower BABIP). I mean I'm not surprised - I LOVE Groshans, but Franco is at another level altogether.

That kind of goes without saying. He's elite.

Biggio with another homerun, closing in on .500 OBP with Insane power numbers. He deserves a promotion.

Followed by his second walk of the day

Frederick (Boston):

What do you make of Cavan Biggio's start? Can you chalk it up to just a hot start or the new ball at AAA or is this a continued progression from last year. Does he have a chance to crack the top 100?

Josh Norris: Second part first: We are meeting this afternoon (probably right after this chat) to discuss our next Top 100 update. Biggio, who is off to a smashing start, will obviously be in the discussion for entry into the list. First part second: This is going to be a battle we fight all year. We all anticipated the new baseball at Triple-A causing offensive explosions, but this is obscene, and it might get worse when the weather warms up in the East. If this change is permanent, power is going to become very difficult to project. I was discussing this last night with an evaluator and came to the conclusion that you should take whatever home run output you think the player might have, then add 10. Side note: I bet the offensive explosion offsets any gains in pace of play in the minor leagues.

Help the dumb guy out - they are now using MLB balls in AAA and it's created more offense.

What the f*** were they using instead? Are they using a lower CC ball in the lower minors?

It's been speculated/proven(?) that the current MLB ball is juiced which is leading to increase offensive output on flyballs. With that said, as Laika pointed out, it's pretty much irrelevant to put any consideration of the ball into Biggio's increased offense since the rest of the league is also using the same ball, and that will be accounted for in a stat like wRC+ or any other that adjusts to the league average and competition.

Yea, there needs to be a b in his name for that to work. You can’t just stick any word at the end.

But the league has said the current ball behaves identically to the previous ones!

FFS, bring the minor league balls up to the majors, not the other way around.

Why juice the players when you can just juice the ball? Much better for PR purposes.

f*** that. At the way players are striking out and hitting into shifts - without a juiced ball, we'll be back in the dead ball era with no offense. It would be s*** to watch.

Lol scouts

Also, it's been proven https://www.theringer.com/2017/6/14/16044264/2017-mlb-home-run-spike-juiced-ball-testing-reveal-155cd21108bc

Apparently, though, they juiced the ball even more this year.

So juiced balls at the MLB level...they're using those juiced balls in AAA now and offense is exploding.

I guess this would explain why some hitters are hitting better at the MLB level than they did in AA/AAA? or at least why there's less of a drop off (better pitching/defense will counter the results of the juicier ball). On the flip side. AA & AAA should be getting destroyed...

Interesting stuff guys - thanks for learning me. That's why I'm here.

Looking at Nate Pearson's numbers to start the season:

5 GS, 19.0 IP, 44.1% K%/2.9% BB% (15.00 K/BB!), 0.95 HR/FB, 0.95 ERA/1.88 FIP/1.20 xFIP/

I know he's 22 in A+ ball, but holy crap!

The league is trying to attract fans. That means they need home runs and offence, especially as teams get smarter about shifts/positioning.

I say go back to juiced players. Screw it. Sosa and McGwire saved the game in the late 90's. Let the players look like Popeye and hit well into their 40's.
