BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Nope listened on radio and followed on game day. Josh Winckowzki also still going strong. And Vlad has his first hit, single to left field Edit: moves to third on a single from Williams and scores on a single from Warmoth. Noda another RBI single. Wowsers. And add 2 stolen bases to that.
tercet Verified Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Tercet may implode Naw he looked pretty meh, same problems he was having in AFL, but good start to the year.
tercet Verified Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Few clips of NP in that twitter thread
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 The dude missed a whole year with a broken arm. He made it out with a decent line and four limbs intact, I’m happy.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Cal Stevenson with a 2 RBI double, after his solo homer and walk earlier. Super small sample size but the dude looks like a stud.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 The dude missed a whole year with a broken arm. He made it out with a decent line and four limbs intact, I’m happy. He had 6 strikeouts and 1 walk over 5 innings while reportedly displaying elite stuff. This was an excellent outing.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Yeah, I think you might be dumb because I'm not having issues with any of those things. For gameday, try pressing the button that says "gameday" I mean it's just an outside link - there is no in-app gameday. It's better to just bookmark this on your phone: https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/prospects/stats/affiliates Every affiliate box score on one page
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Isn't Samad Taylor in Dunedin? Don't see him in the lineup, though maybe he's hurt or something.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Josh Winckowzki gets out of bases loaded 5th. 5.0IP 2H 0BB 7K 0 ERA Need to get our boy some run support
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 (edited) lol Demi Orimoloye 1H 2BB then Riley Adams homers. 11-1 Dunedin. When does the mercy rule come in effect? Update: Cal Stevenson with another base hit. 3/4 1BB 1K 1HR 3RBI Edited April 5, 2019 by BlueRocky
Ray Verified Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 This swing, the bat speed. My god. The swing and bat speed legitimately remind me of Bichette when he was in Lansing.

Laika Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 this is good content So apparently Big Nate is too good for minor league umpires.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 So apparently Big Nate is too good for minor league umpires. same with the catcher, 2b and cf
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 According to Jim Tarabocchia the Dunedin broadcast guy it was a strike as well
spats Verified Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Was at the game yesterday. Biggio had quite a game..hit the ball hard every at bat and the home run was epic, off a lefty no less and a stolen base. Waguespack was very impressive, always around the plate with a 92-94 heater and a great slider that produced 8 K's. Will be in Dunedin on Sunday to catch a few games down there.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Interesting of the notes from Opening day, just a 10 inning 1 hitter with no walks and 17k's between the two of them. Clarke Schmidt, RHP, Yankees. The best pitching battle of the first day of the minor league season happened in the Florida State League. Schmidt actually slightly outdueled 2018 No. 1 pick Casey Mize. Schmidt didn’t allow a hit or a walk while striking out nine in five hitless innings. Casey Mize, RHP, Tigers. It’s not like Schmidt massively outpitched Mize. Mize allowed one hit and no walks while striking out eight in five scoreless innings.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 BlueJayMatt (Toronto): Prior to the draft Nate Pearson was said to have a plus changeup but post-draft I haven't heard much about it and most grades list it as average. Is this the case of the pitch backing up in pro ball, or the projections falling short? Kyle Glaser: Projections falling short. Keep in mind almost no one in the minors (low minors especially) or coming out of the draft has a present, major league plus secondary. It's almost all projection, and sometimes those projections don't pan out. You'll also sometimes have amateur scouts grading things higher than pro scouts, which is a common occurrence. The pro scouts seeing how a pitch plays against actually pro hitters can get a better read on it.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 V (Can): Sleeper prospect in the Jays farm that could move up? Kyle Glaser: I've always kind of like Dom Abbadessa. Josh Norris would tell you to get on the Alejandro Kirk bandwagon.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I learned Dom Abbadessa was white yesterday. Who would have guessed.
tercet Verified Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Radio Scout, lol. In most videos/clips of Pearson he is always missing up and up/away with his fastball. Sure its nice he can blow away crappy hitters who will chase this but vs better hitters it wont work. Well guess what he gave up a hr last night on a high/missed location fastball vs some guy who is a career 255/324/361 hitter in the minors. It's nice that he can throw hard, but he is a work in progress like most 22 year olds in the minors. Remember process >>>>>> results.
tercet Verified Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 remember process >>>>>> results. wut about 2004 shaun marcum, 2006 jesse litsch, 2011 nestor molina in dunedin
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I learned Dom Abbadessa was white yesterday. Who would have guessed. I had a guy who worked for me called Mr. White, blackest guy you have ever seen. You never know....
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 wut about 2004 shaun marcum, 2006 jesse litsch, 2011 nestor molina in dunedin Shaun Marcum 2004?? I don't even know which way you are going with that. His minor league results that year were OK. His major league results were fine. I can't think of a guy that stat-scouts better than Marcum. Minor league era was 3.24, major league era 3.93. Translated perfectly. Jess Litsch 2006?? His ERA was 4.xx. Nothing spectacular in 2006, had a hot streak with weak peripherals in 2007, got called up, did exactly what his status would suggest for 2 years.. then blew out his arm. Or are you saying he was better than the minor league numbers?? Cuz he kind of was better than his 2006 numbers. Nester Monlina ?? Was kind of good for one year, then sort of mediocre and injured. Stats scouting would of worked for 2/3
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 4 PA for Groshans tonight, doulbe, single, two BB. Following on his 1 double and 1 BB in 5 PA yesterday. Promising start
