Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Those clips explain Gore's pedestrian ERA this year. That fastball is deeeaaaaaaad straight stupid windup too.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Well more than half of his walks after the trade were in one start, so he hasn't been too bad. Last two outings have been encouraging at least. Shame he was limited to 3 innings because of Competitive Walks.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Nick Madrigal has 128 PA's this year and has struck out 3 times. Who really cares if he has an .045 ISO? He'd be better off striking out 10% of the time and actually doing some damage to the ball when he makes contact.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Nick Madrigal has 128 PA's this year and has struck out 3 times. Fun fact: Tony Gwynn averaged 17.5 strikeouts per 537 PA between 1991 and 1996, never once cracking the 20 K benchmark.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 lol. I am not on THE BOARD: Hello, I am a 23 year old OF prospect who is batting .296/.382/.444 in 112 games across AA and AAA this year. Some scouts have me at 65 run and 55 field. I don’t know how my power will play at the big league level, but I do have 41 XBH this year, including 10 homers. What more do I have to do to get on THE BOARD? 1:06 Kiley McDaniel: I feel like supplying the name would help

Jacob Robson of the Tigers (don't know what the D is like but seems like he could be a Dwight Smith JR type) https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa658804&position=OF

Jacob Robson of the Tigers (don't know what the D is like but seems like he could be a Dwight Smith JR type) https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa658804&position=OF I would be concerned at the K rate without the pop(26% and .124 iso respectively at AAA, and also his .400+ babip. Some real red flags there
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 I would be concerned at the K rate without the pop(26% and .124 iso respectively at AAA, and also his .400+ babip. Some real red flags there To be fair, he's produced a high BABIP pretty consistently for 3 years now. I think the odds are against him at the major league level, but it could be an interesting case study.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Travis Bergen is looking like an interesting left-handed reliever at New Hampshire. His numbers have been stellar at both Dunedin and Double-A. I wouldn't be shocked if hes a guy that could be a potential out of nowhere add in September. Lots of strikeouts and very few walks. He's 24 but injuries really slowed down is progress. 7th round pick in 2015. Fastball is 92-95, has a decent cuter, and his slider has some swing and miss movement. The report I read on him mentioned he also hides the ball well so he has some deception going for him as well.
43211234 Verified Member Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 When I was messing around on the minor league fangraphs leaderboards looking for the mystery player from Kiley McDaniel's chat, I ran across a few interesting tidbits. Old friend Yuniesky Bethancourt is still around, playing in Mexico. He's flirting with .400 too! Only Vlad's .394 bests Yuniesky's .389 across the MiLB. Blue Jays great, and player with an inexplicable 5-win season, Daric Barton is also in Mexico. He has a 211 wRC+ on a .333/.517/.586 slashline. It seems like he's content to let the Mexican League pitchers walk him. He's not exactly hitting for a ton of power so I doubt he parlays it into a major league comeback. Maybe he gets a spring invite for some team next season though. He's only just turned 33 a week ago.
