John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 What can anyone tell me about Tim Lopes? Hitting .455 with the Bisons, has a 35 SB season and is still only 23 years old. He's a light hitting infielder on a hot streak. He has 15 career minor league home runs so he's not a power threat at all, but he does have experience all over the infield at 3rd, SS and 2b, so at best he's a bench utility IF imo.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Juan Soto has homered again lol Garrett Cooper for Juan Soto in the LoD. Who says no?

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 FTJ so far tonight: 3 for 5, 2B, 3B, 2 R, 3 RBI. Homered yesterday as well. I are so smrt.

What went wrong? Time to freak out... Speaking of Freaking out. Senzel dizzy spells again, this is becoming pattern. Time for Cinci (and fantasy players) to cut bait.

el diego Verified Member Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Apologies if this has been figured out already, but I've been trying to become more familiar MLB service time hi jinks. Here is my current understanding, can someone tell me if and where I am incorrect? 1. The date for a full year of service time has passed, so calling up Vladdy right now does not detract a year from when he becomes an unrestricted FA . 2. The date to NOT become a Super 2 player has (almost certainly) not passed. This date fluctuates year to year but is usually about 2-3 months in. 3. Therefore, if the Jays are planning on having Vladdy on the team before the Super 2 date next year, there is no contractual reason to not bring him up AFTER the Super 2 date this year (which will have to be guessed). I *think* that's right but like I said, I've only now begun to try and truly wrap my mind around MLB's rules.

The reason to not bring him up after the Super 2 deadline would be to wait until late April 2019 in order to extend his service time another year. They would rather have him from 2019 to 2025 than 2018 to 2024.

It should read: 3. Therefore, if the Jays are planning on having Vladdy on the team before the full service year date next year, there is no contractual reason to not bring him up AFTER the Super 2 date this year (which will have to be guessed).
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Bisons officially renewed until 2020. Good to see this done early...interested to see who loses the Vegas sweepstakes this time.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Jansen with another cycle attempt underway, 2-2 with a double and triple already
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Martin mentoring Jansen in 2019 would be a good way to utilize Martin's final season with the Jays (in his current contract). Actually works out pretty well with the catching depth in AAA. Jansen looks like he can be a starting catcher, and McGuire always projected as a backup, so that's 12 years of cheap production right there.

Dime a dozen in MLB. A guy like Mcguire isn't much different than Maile who you can acquire for nothing.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Correct me if I'm wrong, as the majority of you have followed our prospects more closely than me over the years. Is this one of the better years for our prospects in quite some time? Seems like there's a lot of guys putting up fantastic numbers

Yeah but McGuire's bat should play better than Maile's and he's a left handed hitter which should provide some versatility and compliment Jansen's right handed bat.
