Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 GCL is a little young for me. I'd rather just hit up Dunedin and book off the rest of the day for violent masturbation Warmoth is on the GCL roster

Alford - 38 Bo - 44 Lourdes - 89 Vlad at 2 by midseason is insane. He's going to be #1 by year's end. Not sure what Alford did to fall though. Bo could be top 20 by the fall, if he rakes in A+.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Still no word on a Greene signing? Deadline is 5 pm today Luis Robert at 45, behind 5 draftees is interesting.

Bo could be top 20 by the fall, if he rakes in A+. You'd think he'd be #1 by the end of the year, but the White Sox are sure taking their time promoting Moncada. Probably correctly so, but I'm not so sure that they won't just leave him down there this year.

I see no reason to leave Moncada down after the all-star festivities, though maybe they have a patient game plan in mind. Who knows.

Callis tweeted earlier today that it's 100% that Greene signs before 5pm. He'd be dumb to turn down the $7M+ offer he's probably getting.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I still don't think Moncada is as good as he is ranked, he's already struckout almost 100 times in 70+ games at AAA.

He'd be dumb to turn down the $7M+ offer he's probably getting. Hunter Greene negotiations could go down to the wire According to this article he's been offered the largest ever signing bonus (i.e. over $7million) but he wants a bit more and the Reds are worried about going over their draft bonus pool.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I still don't think Moncada is as good as he is ranked, he's already struckout almost 100 times in 70+ games at AAA. While I'm inclined to agree, his stats this year aren't exceptional. There's an increasing trend that shows how possible it is to succeed with a high K rate (See Bellinger, Sano, Judge, etc...) Especially since increasing loft and exit velocity are becoming more utilized approach. This is also true in Moncada's case where he's always had an excellent walk rate and above average power and speed. Who knows? I could also be completely wrong and Moncada ends up being total shite.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Must be projecting huge power and OBP from Vlad, averaging 50+ taters/yr? It's possible. The way scouts rave about him, he sounds like the next Miggy. You'd think he'd be #1 by the end of the year, but the White Sox are sure taking their time promoting Moncada. Probably correctly so, but I'm not so sure that they won't just leave him down there this year. If Vlad dominates A+, he could simply pass Moncada on merit alone. Scouts are in love with the contact/raw power combo.

You hit on the head. It's possible to succeed with a high K rate, as long as you still hit for power and get on base. Lose pretty much either 1 of the other 2 (especially power) and you're f***ed.
Ray Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I'd be happy if Vladdy turns into someone like Miguel Sano who can take a walk and not strikeout at an obscene rate.

I think they're projecting him more of a 30 HR 40 doubles ceiling - which is still very jizz worthy. He doesn't have the mind boggling power of Judge or Sano, but he won't have all the Ks which will really pump those doubles out.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I'd be happy if Vladdy turns into someone like Miguel Sano who can take a walk and not strikeout at an obscene rate. Miguel Sano strikes out at an obscenely obscene rate.
Ray Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Miguel Sano strikes out at an obscenely obscene rate. On track for over 200 K's for the season.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 On track for over 200 K's for the season. 34.9% K rate. Lol jfc. Even Justin Smoak never had a rate that high.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Miguel Sano is just lazy Dominican body comp. Best case scenario offensively is probably Miguel Cabrera or Albert Pujols (lol @ how unrealistic this is), then a drop off to Edwin, then anther drop off to Carlos Santana.

It took E5 7 years to have his first 2+ WAR season. Vladdy too good for that.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Here's hoping Vlady Jr takes full advantage of the high performance program to rid himself of the bad body label. He's so young I believe he can do it.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 It took Edwin 7 years to have his first 2+ WAR season. Vladdy too good for that. I meant prime Edwin, but as promising as Vlad might look there's also a very real chance that he settles in as 2008 EE. Vlad is really far away.
