You'd think he'd be #1 by the end of the year, but the White Sox are sure taking their time promoting Moncada. Probably correctly so, but I'm not so sure that they won't just leave him down there this year.

According to this article he's been offered the largest ever signing bonus (i.e. over $7million) but he wants a bit more and the Reds are worried about going over their draft bonus pool.

While I'm inclined to agree,his stats this year aren't exceptional. There's an increasing trend that shows how possible it is to succeed with a high K rate (See Bellinger, Sano, Judge, etc...) Especially since increasing loft and exit velocity are becoming more utilized approach. This is also true in Moncada's case where he's always had an excellent walk rate and above average power and speed.

 

Who knows? I could also be completely wrong and Moncada ends up being total shite.

You hit on the head. It's possible to succeed with a high K rate, as long as you still hit for power and get on base.

 

Lose pretty much either 1 of the other 2 (especially power) and you're f***ed.

I don't think theyre projecting Vlad as a 40 HR guy though. I think they're projecting him more of a 30 HR 40 doubles ceiling - which is still very jizz worthy. He doesn't have the mind boggling power of Judge or Sano, but he won't have all the Ks which will really pump those doubles out.
