P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 MLB Pipeline Top 10 OF prospects: 1. Andrew Benintendi, BOS 2. Victor Robles, WSH 3. Austin Meadows, PIT 4. Eloy Jimenez, CHC 5. Lewis Brinson, MIL 6. Mickey Moniak, PHI 7. Bradley Zimmer, CLE 8. Manny Margot, SD 9. Clint Frazier, NYY 10. Kyle Lewis, SEA
Ray Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I feel like they need a Top 30 when it comes to ranking outfield prospects. 3 times as many positions to play so it only makes sense. Alford probably would've cracked top 20. Ramirez, maybe top 30. That's an insane Top 10 though. Clint Frazier at #9 tells you all you need to know.

Laika Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I suppose the Brewers should be bad enough for the next while to allow him to forge a Danny Espinosa roller coaster type career. That's a great comp. Espinosa has 11.3 fWAR in ~6 full seasons so he should have been top 40 on all prospect lists in hindsight. It seems like Diaz isn't as reliable defensively as Espinosa. But Espinosa's roller coaster production had a lot to do with controlling his two swings, maybe Diaz will be more consistent... I've seen 60s on his hit tool.

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I love the aggressive ranking for Kaprielian.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Based on Law's track record with prospects, we should look at his lists in descending order from like 11 onwards. The ones he doesn't value are the ones who usually pan out.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Anyone know when MLB pipeline's offseason top-100 comes out?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Check the last 3 pages. Interesting. Francisco Mejia must be in the Top 20 then.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 It could be me, but it seems like Law does a much better job with ranking and scouting hitters than he does pitchers. It would be great to determine who, of all the prospect scouts and sites, was the most accurate in hindsight. Anyone have an idea on how to best quantify that? NJH? I believe you mentioned this specifically last year around this time. It could be something I implement into the composite prospects rankings in the future.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I think that's the lowest ranking I've seen for Glasnow
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Didn't know Stanford had an MLB team... Great job Keith. I copied this from another forum. There's a really high probability the poster made that mistake.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Interesting. Francisco Mejia must be in the Top 20 then. It would be terribly egregious if he wasn't.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I think that's the lowest ranking I've seen for Glasnow Shine is wearing off Glasnow. Most guys that wild, and with only two pitches, don't pull the Aaron Sanchez.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 It could be me, but it seems like Law does a much better job with ranking and scouting hitters than he does pitchers. Historically it's been the opposite. Or at least many of his much lower ranked pitchers have indeed busted.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I think that's the lowest ranking I've seen for Glasnow BA didn't even have him as the top pirates pitching prospect. So he's probably going to be pretty low on the BA list.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Shine is wearing off Glasnow. Most guys that wild, and with only two pitches, don't pull the Aaron Sanchez. Still aggressive to put Cal Quantrill ahead of him.

Especially when you sprinkle in Sanchez, Didi, Severino, Chad Green, etc.
GoldBull Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Is Senzel the only 2016 draftee in Law's top 20 then? Also suprised that Tyler O'Neill doesn't crack his top 100 (unless he's somehow ranked him top 20)
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Is Senzel the only 2016 draftee in Law's top 20 then? Also suprised that Tyler O'Neill doesn't crack his top 100 (unless he's somehow ranked him top 20) He was huge on Corey Ray pre-draft and has called the Brewers a top 5 system, also is a huge Jason Groome fanboy. So maybe there will be a surprise entrant. Mind you I didn't go back and look and see if they already hit.
