HarRam is one of the best names in the org.

Behind Earl Burl III of course.

This must be the Lord's way of bringing that fallen angel back to us.

+ Absolutely HarRam jokes.

It's been a few years since I really followed a draft.

I liked it. Use top picks to acquire college talent that will stock the upper minors quickly, and use the later picks to draft under the radar projectable high schoolers.

In terms of individual players.

JB Woodman and Cavan Biggio are doing really well in Vancouver. Woodman is a power hitting centerfielder with lots of swing and miss in his game. Biggio is a scrappy 2B with good plate discipline.

Zeuch hasn't pitched much so far and I don't expect much for the rest of the season. Zach Jackson hasn't pitched much either but when he has he's been as advertised = command is not there at all.

DJ Daniels got a decent signing bonus and was looking to be an athletic, power hitting high school OF. Also played QB on his schools football team. But he's been a disaster in the GCL.

Bichette has been one of the best hitters in qualified baseball and the only thing that has slowed him down was an emergency appendectomy which has him not playing. But by all accounts he looks like a future stud.

Josh Palacios has hit well in Vancouver so far. Speedy outfielder.

Travis Hosterman and Josh Winckowski were both projectable HS SP that we were able to sign. Winckowski didn't sign untl the deadlne and Hosterman hasn't pitched much so far so it's too early to say anything about either.

And we also signed fast high school outfielder from SoCal Dom Abbadessa.

Real happy with the prospect adds.

Also dont look now but Alford had another great game and average is now up to .234. He has been on fire for 3 weeks now.

Pentecost with a good game and probably should be moved up but maybe he is about to start catching again so maybe thats why he is still at Lansing, if not than not sure why he hasnt been promoted yet.

Ya. Still waiting for Pentecost to get behind the plate. If he's done as a catcher then let's get him to a corner OF or 1B.

He's not done as a catcher yet, they just wanted him DHing for a while to help his shoulder recover a bit more. The plan is to get him some catching reps before the end of the minor league season at some point.

Yup. Initially they were expecting he'd start catching in July. I guess he's not back to 100% yet then.

Pente' bat is looking like a 1B-Corner OF kinda bat.

I remember those days when everybody here don't wanted Trea Turner and did have tons of loves for Pentecost over Trea.

If I remember there was enough doubt regarding Trea's bat to cause worry.

No, I don't remember that. I remember a bunch of thinking "who the hell is he?" when we drafted Pentecost. Most of the mock drafts didn't have him going in the 1st round IIRC.

Actually I remember a few saying the Jays would take him at 9. He was certainly seen as a first round in mocks.

It's worth noting that Alford's strikeouts were in check in 2015 at 19% and were at the same level in July of 2016.

This is about whether or not you believe the injury is a blip on the radar. It has nothing to do with some philosophy on strikeouts.

Alford's strikeouts were 25% at Lansing, 19% at Dunedin, then back to 28% at Dunedin this year.

Anthony Goses also bounced from 20-30%.

I'd be happy as anyone if Alford makes it. The fact is he strikes out a lot. So did Austin Jackson who you loved.

Austin Jackson has done a bit better then Gose, but hasn't realized his early potential.

It is just interesting... you make calls on lots of players... and then go and on abut the ones you are randomly right on.

Most mocks in the weeks leading up to the 2014 draft had the Blue Jays linked to Turner, Toussaint and Hoffman.

A day or two before the draft they switching to Hoffman Pentecost.

Don't forget about Chavez Young. Although I'm not sure how long another Chavez will last in this organisation.

Atkins sorted by last name yesterday so Chavez young got by... For now

Max Pentecost already has a 3B and 2B tonight. Bat is too advanced for Lansing!

I loved Austin Jackson? Let's see a quote.

Regarding Alford, I already explained my rationale. I think the injury affected his numbers and we're now seeing his true skill level. I also think he has a compact swing and good pitch recognition which will help him cut down the strikeouts. I need to see more than a couple of bad months to change that opinion.

A callup Dunedin or would even New Hampshire make sense for a test? Just a thought.
