Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Apparently Revere did a lot of bunt practice before game 4 and coaching staff encouraged him to use it. Got things started nicely for us with that bunt up the 2B that game so I'm hoping that he could try one along third today. Of course we can't have guys like JD and such bunting up there or waste more than maybe one or two at bats on bunts overall but guys like Revere and maybe Goins (who's been struggling at the plate) I think should try a few. If anything we can do it just to get Beltre to charge in on couple of those even if it goes foul and such, especially early on in the game when he's not fully stretched out yet. Why not? Let's say Beltre is at the point where he can barely bend over to pick up the ball, let alone throw it? He'll be playing deep at third against the power guys. If you are given free bases, take them. He might even give you a couple more with an ill-advised throw. I'm not saying you necessarily make it a strategy. You don't tell guys like JD and Bau to do it, but if they sense they can take advantage, it wouldn't upset me to see them try, especially with the depth of our lineup and a tough pitcher on the mound, just keep the line moving.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Wait, so you're not Andrew Stoeten? I can't grow a beard like that to save my life.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Dinger confirmed asian I've met a lot of people from the board: Hurl, Speedygose, NJH, Nox, Min, boxy, ECJF, jaysblue, spanky. They can all confirm I'm black.

Not with the middle of you lineup but if Beltran is starting at third i would think it would be dumb not to test him early with Revere and make him make a play.... Doesn't have to be perfect because judging by monday he look awful fielding with that back... If he makes the play then well now you know.
intrigid Verified Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I just realized, of the 7 teams remaining the blue jays are the most recent world series winners.
NJay Verified Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I think it is critical we score early in this game and take a lead. I sense Minnesota handles the pressure well (especially Hamels) and we seem to be over-anxious at the plate. A couple of early runs will settle our nerves. It is amazing to have this important a game after 22 years and yet stressful as hell at the same time.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Imagine if we had Halladay going in an elimination game back in the day.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I was thinking about that as well. I think he is kind of laying low because ever since he quit posting the Jas have won two straight. Superstitions, maybe? He's really not the type to go for superstitious ********. He has his faults but that isn't one of them. Definitely chalk this one up to flu like symptons.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I need a series win before I believe in Toronto teams. (I'm not a Leafs fan btw). Diaf.

I listen to his podcast which I find entertaining if hardly informative or insightful but I haven't bothered with his writing in years.
