TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Why is Texas starting Holland and Perez over Lewis? That makes no sense. I was saying that I'd be starting Perez if he survives the first 9 batters, bring in Lewis. If he gets rocked bring in someone else and try Lewis in game 4.

Lewis did get hit pretty hard in Arlington the last time we faced them IIRC, might have been a factor. And Holland actually has the best batting avg against vs. our hitters out of any of their pitchers.

I know Lewis sucks, but I'd rather have a s***** RHP than a s***** LHP start against Toronto. If I'm Texas I close it out with Perez, then Lewis, then Hamels and use Holland in the pen.

I wonder if they would go with Hamels in game 5 over Gallardo given they would have just lost 2 in a row sending out a lefty starter.

Definitely Hamels in game 5. He'll be on 4 days rest. No way they sit him and hope Gallardo's smoke and mirrors work again.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 If the Jays win game 3 who makes the call in terms of who starts game 4? Gibbons, AA? I can't see them going with Dickey but it seems like the type of thing Gibbons would do for loyalty. We'll see...

nonamejays Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 The thing is that with the Jays facing two junk pitchers in the next two games, there is a chance if the Bats settle down and get back to what they were doing successfully the past 3 months, then they could very well find themselves back in Skydome on Wednesday. If not, that would suck.

If not, that would suck. It would be great to see them just win the 3rd game and have a chance of going back to the Rogers Centre. I think the Blue Jays players will probably be more relaxed away from home. Now that Texas is expected to win the series, Texas will be the team under pressure to succeed; fans won't be happy if they start throwing the ball around for errors.
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I think in game 3 Tulowitzki should be moved down in the lineup to the number 8 spot, have Colabello at #5, Pillar at #6, Martin #7, Tulowitzki #8 and then Goins #9. Tulowitzki looks like Goins early in the season and unfortunately Goins looks like Goins early in the season.

I didn't agree with Gibby not pinch hitting for Goins against a tough lefty when we could have put the game away. He has had a decent couple months but he isn't a good hitter.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 ok i think it's time for us to look back when the jays were 50-51 at least they gave us something to cheer for this year including division clinch thank you jays for the run from now on whether they lose or win i will just sit back and enjoy the rest let's calm down jays fans They traded their farm system for a 2 month run. If it doesn't lead to at least an ALCS appearance, was it worth it?

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 They traded their farm system for a 2 month run. If it doesn't lead to at least an ALCS appearance, was it worth it? Yes, yes it was. Best few months of ball we've seen in decades.

But seriously though. If we win Game 3, i'm guessing they would go back to Price for Game 4. You gotta like your chances with Price on the mound. And then Stroman Game 5.
Praxis Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) They traded their farm system for a 2 month run. If it doesn't lead to at least an ALCS appearance, was it worth it? The simple answer is that in the short term yes, it's been an incredible ride that many of us have waited 22 long years for. In the long run however there are massive questions to be answered. We have no farm system, huge holes in pitching and big salaries to pay just to keep the core together. My only hope is that Rogers realizes what an incredible sports property and potential fanbase they have here and not squander the opportunity by being cheap in the offseason. The Blue Jays have a hugely better chance of winning it all than the Leafs and Raptors do in the next decade or so. Edited October 10, 2015 by Praxis
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Even without price Jays will be favorites to repeat as ALDS champ s. Offense is back in all its glory
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Hopefully a change of scenery will do the Blue Jays some good. The weather should be pleasant at start time with temperatures around 88°F and cooling as the game proceeds - http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/arlington-tx/76010/hourly-weather-forecast/331134?hour=41 Hopefully this won't be the last game of the season for the Blue Jays. Regardless, there is one more game to look forward to.

For sure - It made my summer... As for what we gave up, the only thing I may possibly regret is Hoffman. But then again, would I rather have Reyes and that contract or Tulo and the same contract. I think it's pretty clear Tulo is the better option or for those not happy with his offensive production - the lesser of the 2 evils though the numbers indicate Tulo's offense should come back next year.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Derek Holland for Game 4. Let's rough up Perez tomorrow so we can rough up Holland, who we've usually done well versus. If we can get this to a Game 5, we have a shot, since it'd be either Price or Stroman(please be Stroman!).
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 If we can't beat Perez and Holland than we never deserved to win this series. Our hitters should be feeling confident.
