It's an 11:45am start for f***ing Texas fans on Friday. That should be a crime.

They can't even work a half day and catch the game.

That's what a couple of my buddies are doing now. Theyre like "f*** we said we'd come in for half days!" lol suxxxxx

Are you from the area or out of town?

I live at Queen and Roncesvalles haha, it sounded like a good idea for a party with the boys.

I'll still be fun until later on when it becomes just a sausage fest and your realize your sleeping with 6 dudes in a room.

I had no plan on staying over night. I thought I was just going to go watch a ball game and have a few too many beers maybe hit up a bar then go home around 2:00am like a typical Friday night. This 12:45am start time kinda ruins that option. Guess it's day drinking then going home for a nap at like 7:00 lol

How about us west coast Jays fans? There are a lot of us, and I'm not too happy with those Thursday and Friday times ... I've been waiting since I was 8 years old for this moment! And now I'll have to watch delayed on a pvr ...

It's times like this I'm glad I set my own schedule but since I'm taking tomorrow off for surgery it's going to be a mess trying to make up enough time on Wednesday and Thursday to cut my Friday down to a 10:30 am finish.

I am new to the whole playoff thing, having never followed a team that was competing in the post season.

But is it normal for them to have major games taking place during the afternoon on regular work days?

I bought a ticket for Thursday's divisional game, which it says is going to be at 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. I was assuming it would be at 7:00 p.m. which is normal for a weekday game. I'm lucky I can re-arrange my work schedule to attend, otherwise my tickets would have been given away to someone who could attend.

But Friday's game is at 12:45 p.m.? Who in blazes can watch a game at 12:45 during a workday, let alone attend? I guess only retirees and children. I was so excited to watch all the games. I guess I'll have to read about it in the paper.

Is this normal? Wouldn't they want regular people to be able to watch their games? Isn't that kind of the point??

It's because Fox Sports owns the rights and decides the times. Canadian viewership yields no benefit to them from an advertising perspective, so we get shafted. It's common for the lowest expected ratings to have the worst time slot, yes.

Then to add insult to injury they schedule the Sunday game at... 8:00 p.m.? So I've got to stay up late on a work night?

I assume you just had a brain fart here and you aren't actually working on Thanksgiving day.

The Jays are loaded with superstars but still get the s***** timeslots.

Major League Baseball does not know how to market superstars. If they did, Fox/ESPN/etc would know how to feature them. Counting on U.S. markets to draw ratings hasn't worked in years since interest around the country is down.

In the NBA, LeBron could play in Toronto and those games would be the highest rated in the U.S. The NBA does it right. Baseball is so far behind.

Apologies if this doesn't need to be it's own thread, too lazy to look around theads

So yeah I know they are day games yada yada yada but I have seen conflicting reports of the actual start times for the games. Can anyone fill me in on the official and correct start times for games 1 and 2? thanks!

Yes it is normal. A couple teams always get the shaft every year when the DSeries get kicked off midweek. Not always 12:30pm but there are instances of a ton of games before 3:00pm during the week.

B2B starts before 3pm in 2010:

Well I deleted that sentence from my post when I realized that not everyone goes to bed as early as I do. But yeah, Thanksgiving too, lol

It's possible it could have something to do with NHL games starting (giving us the bad time slots, not having them in general).

Urrgh... that makes some sense. At least the Texans are getting shafted worse than us. They get to watch the game at 11:45 a.m. their time :)

Is the game still on rogers sportsnet or only on fox

Sportsnet will have every Jays game.

The American market gets either ESPN, FOX or TBS.

Off all day Thursday and Friday, but that 12:30pm gametime is pretty s*****.

8pm game on Sunday is the worst for me. Early work day on Monday.

You have to work Thanksgiving Monday?

Though to be clear, Sportsnet will carry it, but it will be the FOX broadcasts.

I would rather listen to Buck and Pat than 2 idiots who know nothing about our team. Unless its Shulman whois actually from here and watches the team.

The game times aren't great, but were in the f***ing playoffs boys. Everyone just take a deep breath and enjoy this for a minute.

Our team isn't very hard to figure out...elite sluggers in Bautista and Edwin, elite two-way players in Donaldson, Tulo and Martin, defense-first guys in Pillar and Goins, speedy leadoff guy in Revere, 1B platoon - one is good defender with pop (Smoak), the other is mostly just a hitter (Colabello). Then we have the ace, the mini-ace, and the knuckleball guy - HM: crafty vet having a career year by ERA. Then the bullpen is pretty good.

Btw I can't find Thursday's game time? It says "TBD" on the Mlb website

It's either at 3:37 or 4:07 ET depending on who wins the wildcard game.
