gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Kawasaki is qualified to be on the 25 man playoff roster. It's just not terribly likely that he will be chosen over other options. Funny how Kawasaki is not even considered over Goins anymore. Oh how things have changed..
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Basically, they just need to have been in the organization before August 31. No Mlb rule 40(a)

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 I like how Goins has been playing, but we should pass judgement until we see what he does in Sept.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Get off your knees, brah. A hot month doesn't change much. Give me a f***ing break. You mean to tell me that you still think Kawasaki is still in the fold? LLLLLMMMMMAAAAAAAOOOOOOO
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Give me a f***ing break. You mean to tell me that you still think Kawasaki is still in the fold? LLLLLMMMMMAAAAAAAOOOOOOO No, as a 3rd maybe 4th emergency guy sure, get a grip, Goins is and will always be a 25th man.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Get off your knees, brah. A hot month doesn't change much. f*** this, give the the credit when it's due. Check his second half numbers and then talk. Hot month? GTFO
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 No, as a 3rd maybe 4th emergency guy sure, get a grip, Goins is and will always be a 25th man. I have always known this, but a 25 man spot will always be warranted. This imo constitutes a stick.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 f*** this, give the the credit when it's due. Check his second half numbers and then talk. Hot month? GTFO lol...where's his easily beat Linds 1.5 WAR playing 96 games? Just stop gruber. I like the guy, you make me dislike him with your stumped up BS, of I told you so. Get a grip.

Highway robbery i think it was referred to earlier this year. Get a grip.

Highway robbery i think it was referred to earlier this year. Get a grip. Guys like Colabello and Smoak, would never have been sought after. Lind's a good ballplayer, whether you like it or not. As for Estrada, he was a welcome surprise, I still wouldn't have made that move, in terms of talent.

I was all for him being our starting second baseman before we traded for Travis, because we didn't have many options. Ryan Goins has risen above all the other options we used at second base, and there were quit a few. Travis is obviously a better option, he's a fantastic hitter.

Fair enough, Travis is 3 times the player, Goins is in a great spot and has worked out admirably. Like I said, a back up MIF. Your WAR was way off by the way.

Weak defender and can't run, injury prone to boot.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 So any one else pumped to have a SB threat like Pompey on the bench? Probably the one spot the bench was lacking.
Iggy Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I am a little surprised that Pompey was not recalled on August 31 (to replace Carrera) as then he would be eligible for the post season. As the 4th outfielder he would provide better defense and the ability to steal bases as a pitch hitter. Not sure how the rules work if Carrera would have to be DFA on August 31 and as such, the Jays could risk losing him (he could be helpful in September) Post season roster rules ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Baseball_transactions
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 To be eligible for the postseason active roster, a player must have either been on that team's expanded roster or disabled list as of midnight ET on August 31 of that year and not placed on the 60 day disabled list after August 1. What's the problem?
Iggy Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 As I understand it ... a player must be on the active 25 man roster at midnight August 31 (there are exceptions ... DL players like Stroman) Per Wikipedia ... To be eligible for a team's postseason roster, a player must be on any of the following: (a) the active 25-man roster ( the disabled list, © the bereavement list, or (d) the suspended list as of August 31 at midnight ET.[1] The only exception is that a player who is on the disabled list at the end of the regular season may be replaced on the postseason roster by any other player who was in the organization on August 31, with the approval of the commissioner of baseball.[2] All players on the team's roster during the season will be eligible to receive a World Series ring after the team wins the World Series.

Really trading Happ and Lind makes so much more sense if this is what he was expecting from Estrada. I thought Marco was just a mediocre bullpen piece at the time.

Other than the uncharacteristically low HR rate, Estrada's performance is pretty much in line with what should have been expected. Acquiring him for pitching depth was a solid move.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 So Pompey is ineligible unless he replaces someone on the DL? That is really unfortunate, I'd love to see him help bring a WS home

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
