Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 As the title says, who will AA call up to fortify the current roster? GO
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 Pompey, Fields (speed killz), Delebar, ....., .......
King Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 For reference: Blue Jays 416 @bluejays416 8m8 minutes ago #BlueJays will call up 4 or 5 players tomorrow and two more Sept 7 when minor league season is over as per manager John Gibbons. 1. Dalton Pompey 2. Roemon Fields 3. Steve Delabar 4. Aaron Loup 5. Josh Thole 6. Munenori Kawasaki 7. Matt Hague/Danny Dorn 8. Bo Schultz/Chad Jenkins/Scott Copeland (1 or 2 more relievers maybe) edit
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 Too bad Alford wasn't baseball only from the start. Could have been a call up.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Roemon Fields 2015 = Terrance Gore 2014 I hope Gibbons has the balls to have Martin PH later in the game. Navarro gets on base, Fields to PR, Martin to catch.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 who is the best bunter in the minors?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 who is the best bunter in the minors? No clue but Pennington is good enough from what we've seen. Make him the designated bunter then call up a Pre-2nd-half-2015 Goins-type infielder.

Nafro Verified Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Forgot the obvious...Marcus Stroman. Relievers Ben Rowan and Ryan Tepera, I would guess.
Nafro Verified Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Fields would have to be added to the 40 man, so someone would have to be designated.

King Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yes. I meant Tepera when I was looking at the 40 man roster.
rydermike Verified Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Fields would have to be added to the 40 man, so someone would have to be designated. Don't we have an opening since they put Saunders on the 60-day, or did they put someone else on it when they did that Edit: They put him on the 60-day to make room for Roach, when they claimed him off waivers. They'll probably just DFA Roach if they wan Fields then. If he made it all the way to us on Waivers, he'll likely clear
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Roemon Fields 2015 = Terrance Gore 2014 I hope Gibbons has the balls to have Martin PH later in the game. Navarro gets on base, Fields to PR, Martin to catch. Doubt it. Martin has said it takes him about 30-45 minutes to warm up before he can play so he isn't going to go in to a game right off the bench. I think Gibby has said Martin won't be used on off days anyway.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Forgot the obvious...Marcus Stroman. Relievers Ben Rowan and Ryan Tepera, I would guess. Stroman isn't in the minors he is on rehab. That's why he can be on.the playoffs roster Any other callup cannot be on the playoffs roster
Caper Verified Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Too bad Alford wasn't baseball only from the start. Could have been a call up. I think he would hold is own right now. Doesn't mean he is ready (he's not), but a lot of times a young guy comes up and takes off before falling back to earth as pitching staffs get acclimated.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 It's going to be interesting to see how Gibby will use Pompey vs RHP.

Pompey Delebar Loup Thole Kawasaki
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I think if they were on the roster and played in a game prior to August 31, they're eligible. Pompey Delebar Loup Thole Kawasaki Stroman is eligible as well by virtue of having been on the Major League DL.
strochez Verified Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I wouldn't mind seeing Chad Girodo getting called up. He profiles nicely as a future LOOGY. In 21 games in NH this year he's thrown 29 innings of ball with a 0.62 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP with 23 K's and only 2 walks. But his lefty splits are ridiculous!!! Lefties are hiting .098 against him and are averaging 2 GO/AO. I'd love to see what he looks like in September as opposed to giving those appearances to someone like Hynes. He's not on the 40-man but that could be fixed by designating Don Roach for assignment.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 It's going to be interesting to see how Gibby will use Pompey vs RHP. probably as a pinch runner or to give Jose, Pillar a couple innings off late in games.

The Blue Jays absolutely killed it with their senior signs in the top ten rounds of 2013 to manipulate bonus pool availability. Kendall Graveman and Girodo both signed for $5000, while each slot was about $150K. Matt Boyd was another senior signee, with a bonus of $75K in a $250K slot. Fantastic job of manipulating the pool but also acquiring talent.
strochez Verified Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Kendall Graveman and Girodo both signed for $5000, while each slot was about $150K. Graveman and Girodo were teammates at Mississippi St also.
Candide Verified Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I think if they were on the roster and played in a game prior to August 31, they're eligible. Pompey Delebar Loup Thole Kawasaki It'd be so cool of Kawasaki gets called up and plays in the playoffs. He could be the first Asian on a World Series winning team since John Olerud.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I think if they were on the roster and played in a game prior to August 31, they're eligible. Pompey Delebar Loup Thole Kawasaki Basically, they just need to have been in the organization before August 31.
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 It'd be so cool of Kawasaki gets called up and plays in the playoffs. He could be the first Asian on a World Series winning team since John Olerud. In the postseason, teams are limited to a 25 man active roster just like the regular season (prior to Sept 1). Kawasaki won't play in the postseason unless there is an injury where he could be added to the active roster though I think he'd still get a ring if the Jays win the WS.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
