Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 it is thread worthy but we'll have to wait until Tuesday to find out who's coming up
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 pompey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Victim of Gibbons's BP mismanagement. He hasn't pitched much lately so at least get him in some games regularly.
ColdPint Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Victim of Gibbons's BP mismanagement. He hasn't pitched much lately so at least get him in some games regularly. Victim of really sucking this year. He hasn't deserved to get into games with the Jays fighting to get into the playoffs. Opportunity is earned through performance.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Wow, if only they had the opportunity to option Loup and keep Valencia. Oh wait, they did.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 We need him on the playoff roster. So he better be up here Aug 31. He is our only loogy
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 My guess it's Pompey
EMK19 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Pompey apparently has an ankle injury and haven't played the past few days so not sure if it'll be him. Guessing Carrera or Heisey, or maybe they're close on a new acquisition since they didn't make that corresponding move right away.

With very little information on his injury other than he rolled his ankle. I think they are just letting him rest, knowing he will be called up soon....or at least I hope that's the case
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 So Valencia was DFA'd for 5 pitches from Loup.
Smokey Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 So Valencia was DFA'd for 5 pitches from Loup. And 2 reliable relievers were acquired only to hand the 8th to Sanchez and let Loup face righties before sending him down.
Statman Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Valencia adds greater value than Loup, Pennington and Kawasaki combined.
Rafters Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Pompey has not played the last 2 AAA games
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Loup seems like the odd man out, but yeah. It's not like he wasn't an odd man out two weeks ago when Valencia got the shaft. Whatever move they're making probably isn't as important as not losing a productive back-up corner infielder.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 watch it be someone like Matt Hague lol
candymartinez Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 It's pretty clear Valencia wasn't cut due to his performance. Some kind of "clubhouse issue" is why he was dropped.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Gonna guess Thole With the pitcher batting the next two games in the NL, I dunno, I'm thinking it'll be a position player that is more flexible than just C/1B (which we already have plenty of) like Thole. I'm sure Thole will be up in September to catch Dickey, just don't think right now will be the time.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Could be a LHP AA has acquired
fapaholic Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 It's pretty clear Valencia wasn't cut due to his performance. Some kind of "clubhouse issue" is why he was dropped. Don't buy this at all. It was clearly stupidity as to why he was dropped. The guy was productive and could play multiple spots. Now they're making the move they should have in the first place and possibly bringing up someone worse than Valencia.

Even more facepalm worthy when you realize they cut Valencia one month before September roster expansion. Sending someone down for Danny V's sake didn't even have to be final. Just send Loup down (or Schultz). Convince yourself they're on the DL if you really need the peace of mind.
polar bear Verified Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 So Valencia was DFA'd for 5 pitches from Loup. Absolutely nonsensical,a real head scratcher. Someone should be fired for incompetence.
flafson Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Absolutely nonsensical,a real head scratcher. Someone should be fired for incompetence. There were some rumors that Valencia didn't get along very well in the clubhouse.
spats Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 So Valencia was DFA'd for 5 pitches from Loup. Valencia was DFA'd because he was not good in the clubhouse...some dissention there.

I think it was just poor roster mgm and Valencia > Collabello Did you notice that no player commented on his departure at the time and he didn't look well received by the players when Oakland was here. They basically ignored him.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 lol @ the 'Valencia was bad in the clubhouse' narrative. AA didn't want to DFA Valencia. That was obvious from listening to him. Valencia was likely given the boot because Gibbons though other guys were better, or because Valencia makes almost 4 times league min and they were so maxed out that they couldn't even take on Revere's contract.
