jayswin11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 3 man bench is not smart. Agreed
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Well they got the Phillies to eat all of Revere's contract. Its pretty obvious they are tapped out budget wise so they need to get creative. They will need to use that 700k and whatever else cash they get him forValencia to add another infielder or whatever Alex wants to do I think its f***ing retarded to have 3 first baseman and 8 relievers on one team but that's just me. I agree, but Valencia is no longer a 3rd baseman and cant play second or short so hes really just a first baseman now too.
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Doesn't Valencia need to clear waivers to be traded now? Whereas yesterday he could have been traded to anyone. There's no way he gets all the way to the Yanks. Not a chance.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Toronto Blue Jays Verified account @BlueJays AA re Valencia: "It a very difficult decision and Gibby wanted Revere to be in LF everyday" Someone is not telling the truth.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 could have optioned Schultz even
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Colabello DH over Valencia 1B/2B/3B/cornerOF + lefties killer
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Someone is not telling the truth. It pains me to say this as a Gibbons hater, but I think it's AA who is being untruthful here. Gibbons doesn't give two shits about defense, never has. He'll put anyone in the field if he feels it will improve the lineup. This was an AA move all the way around.
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Valencia career 137 WRC+ vs lefties Colabello career 92 WRC+ vs lefties
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I get the feeling Tulo and JD will have no time for Muni's antics. Those two are all business and I personally love it!
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I prefer Valencia to Collabello but to be fair, Cola is a better hitter
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I prefer Valencia to Collabello but to be fair, Cola is a better hitter No he isn't.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I am intrigued to know what this corresponding move is...Dalton up and Bello DFA'd?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Its very possible. A lot of the s***** teams wouldn't have much interest in adding Valencia. A potential playoff team would. Orioles, Twins, and Yankees all strong possibilitys He has to pass through the NL first right? Mets could use him.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Honesty cannot think of a positive spin to put on this at all. Maybe they get a prospect of some sort for Valencia (he doesn't have to go on waivers to be traded, since I saw that question asked earlier).
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I am intrigued to know what this corresponding move is...Dalton up and Bello DFA'd? No reason at all (other than the burning desire to see him off the team) to DFA someone with options when you have 35 people on your 40 man roster.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I am intrigued to know what this corresponding move is...Dalton up and Bello DFA'd? Revere will play everyday LF. Gibbons isn't talking about Pompey.

Orioles, Twins, and Yankees all strong possibilitys Jose Tobata was traded yesterday and Valencia is better than him and cheaper.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I like Revere everyday in LF it makes sense but Valencia still more valuable off the bench than Cola

glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 No issues with Revere playing everyday. Valencia against LHP would have been an improvement over Revere, but after 3 months of watching bad/stupid defenders in LF, I'm fine with Revere there everyday as long as he can catch the ball. But Valencia is still a better bench bat than Lolabello.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 How so if we're past the non-waiver trade deadline? D'oh, how exactly did I miss that part of the equation? Apparently my brain is in Saturday mode. My bad.
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Hes also 26 and capable of playing the outfield. Hes a guy I wouldn't mind taking a chance on to be honest. He's been a negative value defender every year he's been in the majors. -0.2 fWAR last 4 years
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 It's not a surprise to me that AA listens to Gibbons on the final roster spots. Not saying I agree with it, just that AA is not a guy that takes charge and he loves Gibbons. It's been obvious for quite some time that Gibbons really likes Colabello. For the record, god damn it, I hate it!
Yorkshire Blue Jay Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I wouldn't have called up Muni if it meant DannyV DFA'd. He is much more versatile and while only serviceable as a 2b. Muni for Bello no problem at all he has options and would still be a piece to call on if injuries bite and a September call up at worst, but I don't make the move AT THIS STAGE if it's for Valencia which means we will lose him from the organisation.
