SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Castro looks like a reliever....bye bye bud. I liked you but won't miss you.
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I still don't understand why we didn't strech Castro back out Who cares he's terrible, that idiot general manager of ours someone convinced himself that a guy who couldn't even dominate A ball was somehow major league ready
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Castro is the prospect. That gas can, I can do without. Who else.

No one knows how Castro would have done had he continued as a starter in the low minors.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 There clearly has to be more to this trade.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Useless stolen bases inflate Reyes WAR numbers.
SexyNewForum Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 If it's Castro plus any one big prospect this is fine If it's castro plus c prospects this could be great
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 not by the casuals though. They will love his "grit" and "toughness" this s*** is real. No one ever shits on white players who were once great. Think Biggio, Rose, Brett, Chipper. Lesser and younger examples...Jim Edmonds, Johnny Damon, David Wright. No one ever says anything really negative about those guys. I do agree that Reyes was treated poorly by the fans and media though, he wasn't a star but despite his flaws he was a valuable player. I didn't give two shits about his personality, not that there was anything wrong with it to begin with

I didn't give two shits about his personality, not that there was anything wrong with it to begin with Reyes was fine. I think a lot of the vitriol stemmed from concerns about just how bat things would get as his defense continued to decline into his mid 30s. In his time here, he definitely earned his pay though.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Old-school BTS/Hurl tag team up in this biatch We did so horrible last time we teamed...got it all wrong. Honestly I don't hate the deal this time though. It's an upgrade this year, but it's another deal where if you don't win this year...looks worse and worse. At least this time I understand the F.O. believing in their position to make the playoffs.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I feel like anything is possible today. CMart, Paxton, DeGrom? One of these things is not like the other.

Its wierd though, people wanted him to be a perfect well rounded player when he wasn't. We're okay with guys being solid and not stars but not with everyone.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Its true. All those stolen bases, how many times does he take third for no reason at all. They probably make up 1-1.5 WAR for him. Troy actually gets hits. Projected to be .900 OPS hitter going forward. Buddy boy Reyes barely projects to be average. I think every time Reyes throws away the game, they should make a manual adjustment of -1 WAR. I have him at about -20 WAR since he became a Jay.

This is what i'm talking about, people like to highlight the flaws of the player they don't like and tend to lose perspective, no one got it worse than Reyes, atleast not since like Rios.

That OPS projection will be adjusted downward significantly in the next few days.

frizzer1 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Reyes was getting worse defensively.....he was soon going to be so bad that they would have had to take him off short and maybe DH...and he has become a singles hitter....no doubles or triples anymore.... For me this is like the Clarkson trade...I can't believe that anyone would take him at 22 mil...assuming that other than casto no other top prospects go..it's hats off to AA.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Anyone watching other AL East boards to see what kind of chatter there is about this deal so far? mostly the same thing.. jays don't need hitting and tulo playing on turf will be questionable. Everyone likes tulo though. pretty fair.
