Listening to "Dave from Vancouver" on Wilners JaysTalk (masochistic I know). Always on there.

I wonder if he is on this Board? He rattles on. Not the worst caller by any means but truly annoying.

Gotta go 6-2 on this road trip. Hope we avoid Gallardo and Hamels in Arlington. We get Heaney and Richards in Anaheim. Not sure who the third will be. Not Weaver as he goes Wed. Maybe Santiago.

He has been grabbing his right hamstring.

Im just wondering if its affecting his ability to load up on his back leg. He missed a high and away FB that earlier in the year he was hammering to RCF and he cant square anything up.

I think its actually his left hamstring. At least he was today during his last AB.

Playing through injuries rarely works out. Almost always a bad idea.

90% of the callers are incredibly annoying, it's rather pleasant when someone calls who isn't annoying.

It will be Santiago (dang), Heaney and Richards (ugh). They just had to demote Shoemaker.

Santiago is 1) a lefty and 2) has not been that great if you look outside his ERA, he's a guy that this team could do some damage to.

Sorry, my mistake. My theory doesn't make sense then.

It'd be an issue if the Angels were actually hitting, which they aren't. Calhoun/Trout/Pujols can't carry this team.. they seriously need help.

The question is then, for those who are for Tulo continuing to bat leadoff, how long do you see us doing this for, for rest of his time with the Blue Jays here on? Do we continue to do this as long as we have the big three of JD, Bats and EE following him, then maybe considering a move if one or more of them goes? Or is it more due to the fact that there isn't a better hitter right now that you'd rather want leading off instead of Tulo? (since I know lot of people aren't fans of Revere leading off in his place due to his lower walk rate as well). For example, when Travis comes back, would you guys say that he makes a better case of having Tulo further down in the order? Or do you guys think we still bat Tulo first even then?

Ya, you pretty much nailed it. He's hitting leadoff because there isn't a more suitable leadoff hitter in the lineup. I'm actually surprised Gibbons has kept him there, especially with the addition of Revere. The days of light hitting speedsters leading off are (hopefully) on the decline, although many mangers still choose to do i.e.: Alcides Escobar. Then you look at a team like Tampa who has used John Jaso at the leadoff spot quite a bit this year, from what I can tell due to his ability to get on base.

While we're on the subject, there's also the case of Ben Revere; we all know he's eventually going to start hitting better as his career numbers would indicate, and that he is one of the better SB threats in the league when he is on the base; right now in the 9th spot, with the big 4 following him, he's rarely had the chance to showcase that talent at all. I'm not necessarily thinking just the leadoff spot for him, but how about maybe bumping him up to 7 spot or so where bottom hitters can have a better chance of driving him in with a SB/a simple base hit? I just feel that he does have that great SB potential that we should make better use out of it...

Revere is an interesting case for this team. He is a very nice complimentary piece to this team with his contact skills and ability to steal bags. It's difficult to say where he's best suited to hit because as you've said, his niche of stealing bags is somewhat handicapped due to 1-4. Even so, I think his best fit in this lineup is 9th. There will obviously be a decrease in stolen bags (and attempts) but his ability to go first to third or score on a double is where his speed will be most apparent.

I don't know why but I have a feeling that Gibbons will go full La Russa and have the pitcher batting 8th and Revere 9th.

Are you saying this as a bad thing or a good thing? I really have no problem with it. Mostly because the bigger bench that NL rules force means the pitcher's spot can become a power threat at any time (Colabello, Smoak, etc).

Three out of the four wins v. the Yankees this past week were led by the Donaldson-Bautista power duo. Yankee killers. Feels good to have the superstars be the difference makers. (And, of course, that pitching.)

I love it, because just about every team has at least one guy that eats Blue Jay pitching alive, it gets annoying to see and hear about it constantly. Nice to have guys on our side who return the favour.

So true. Brett Gardner is one of those LHH guys that just seems to haunt us in big situations. Tough out. Its nice to think that we have guys that the Yanks fans complain about too haha.

man do I hate listening to Barker and Blair talk about ball... ugh.

Agreed. Was going to just write this as I have one ear jack in in my office. The irony of Barker schooling Tulo on hitting.

Why cant I stop? f***ing off days.

It's way better than hearing 2-3 bandwagon jumper discuss the Jays in the lunch room. Trust me.

Jays have sold a lot of tickets for remaining games. If they can be in the race or at the front of the division the rest of the season they could get to 2.7M fans this year. that would be the most since 1995 when they had 2.8M

they need to avg 40k for the remaining 18 home games to get to 2.72.

And we somehow have two in one week. What a disgusting schedule.

it's because we are play NL team and then 2 teams where we wont be back again this year. just in case there is bad weather they want to make sure the game get played because they don't want to schedule an extra game in parks we wont be back to. that would suck even more than 2 days off in a week. 3 in the next 8 days....

it would be horrible for our team to have to travel back to LA or Texas for 1 make up game in sept.

the three days off are very good for the jays because of our lack of depth as well. Jays are getting some much needed rest for players who we can't really afford to sit.

LA had their first rain out in 10 years I think earlier this summer

hope the time off lets some of the old guys get their mojo back for the stretch run

It's kind of sad that when the Jays get good - at times, it can be less enjoyable being a Jays fan. I'm known as a Jays fan so now all the band wagoners & casual baseball fans want to talk baseball with me....which makes me want to run as fast as I can into a steel post.

let them be happy. Just smile and wave...

The good news is, even though we don't play, I don't feel it as much because the Yanks and O's games have a lot of effect on us. So we can watch those games with serious routing interest.
