I can't wait to see Stroman and his golden hair pick up his little brother, Devon Travis with the golden hair.

Pretty sure Stroman is younger.. and smaller

The Colabello And Reyes Chronicles: Winning 1 Game With The Bat For Every 4 Games They Lose With The Glove And No One Will Be Any Wiser

So Colabello and Reyes each provide a net deficit of -4.0 WAR every five games?

To be honest, that's actually pretty epic.

You can't use xFIP on a knuckleball pitcher? It's the same outlier as using FIP and xFIP as MB, is it not?

You're right, but Dickey is still s*** despite that.

I'm aware, hence my follow up, I'm just hoping he keeps up what he did, going into the break.

Can't speak for anyone but myself but I always look fastball and adjust.. Respect the cheese Kevin Pillar added,

Alex Whitt @BaseWhittToLeft

@KPILLAR4 Do many players look for fastball and adjust to off speed/breaking pitches or is it a lot of look for a certain pitch?

It really seems more like he decides he's going to swing and it doesn't matter what pitch is thrown at times. he's had a lot of swings at balls at his feet.

At least his K% is way down, and contact% is up.

still not walking enough, but he's putting the ball into play. It's amazing that he's raised his AVG as much as he has when he still has a ton of swings at balls that are WAY out of the zone.

he's never really walked much. i don't expect him to start now. He has always seemed to hit enough to mitigate his issues not walking. If he can miraculously do that, he could be a nice player. Worst case scenario, he looks like a good 4th OF with the defense being better than I expected.

If he could just develop strike zone recognition he could be good enough offensively to be an everyday player. It doesn't even have to be a big boost. OBP just isn't high enough yet.

His peripherals are fairly close to his minor league career numbers right now. If he is a league average hitter, plays great defense, and is a plus on the bases, he can be an everyday player. He'll be up and down depending on his BABIP, but might end up sticking.

I wouldn't put a bunch of money on him being a good player, its not outside the realm of possibility.

Admit I didn't see this coming. Kevin Pillar, last 365 days:

.280 average, .731 OPS, 9HR, 14 SB, 3.0 WAR

I thought he had more SB but nope, 14 is right.

Honestly, I am not sure on Pillar. Heading into the season I thought he was just a 4th OF and wanted AA to sell high on him after his first hot start. He did have a pretty terrible May and a pretty great June. He is hitting 97 wRC+ (below league average) this season but with his defense/base running it certainly makes up for that. He doesn't have a crazy BABIP either at .315.

I wouldn't mind if he is traded for the right piece but with Saunders/Bautista future in the OF in question heading forward and Pompey the only real replacement option in the minors it may be more beneficial to hold him.

Also grats to Ang. I think he was the only one that predicted Pillar would be a breakout player this year. Kudos to you, you crazy Mexican.

Pillar isn't a bad plate discipline guy, he is just aggressive.

Stroman throwing off flat ground

I thought this would be the only video, but nope. The dude has multiple videos working out on Instgram. That is great to see. From a fans perspective, Stroman is a guy that you love to cheer for.

I can't understand why people are so eager to sell on Pillar. For once the system has produced a useful position player who provides nice depth for the next 4 or 5 years or whatever. He's been a wonderful surprise, and a luxury that lots of teams don't have. Trading him won't fix the SP problem.

If Pillar was on the Cardinals, he'd be appreciated.

Since he's on the Jays, he's trade bait.

Dude plays great defense, good base runner, and if he ends up being even slightly below average offensively, he'll be very valuable. Hold on to him while he's cheap.

It won't, but if I could replace one of Norris or Hoffman with a Pillar in a trade, I'd do it.

Nobody worth trading for ends up in Toronto with Pillar as the center piece of a deal, as Norris or Hoffman would be.

Because some people don't think he is an every day player long term...

These same people also know that Marco Estrada didn't need to be locked up long term, and suspect that Matt Boyd isn't as good a prospect as some others do.

He doesn't even need to be an everyday player long term though. He has a fantastic 4th OF profile- cover all three positions, above average baserunner, can swipe a bag. Good teams have guys like him to step in to cover injuries, utilize off the bench, etc.
