Road woes are doing the Jays in. Unfortunately, July will be spent mostly on the road so they'll need to suck it up.

I deserved that no question...

1. If the team does outscore the opposition 400-300 or something in the second half, they will be good. I believe in pythagoran.

2. Travis has come back healthy and hitting...

3. Somehow even with this the offense has tanked since he's been back.

Maybe I am to bipolar. I don't know. Mabye not.

Statement - after 70odd games... this is a good offensive team.

10 more games pass with putrid offensive performance... is it logical to change the statement??

The logical thing would be to not overreact so strongly to the ups and downs that a season carries. There seems to be tendency around here to read too much into what is happening at that moment and lose perspective of the bigger picture. The offense starts off really hot and suddenly we "should be leading the AL" and we don't need an "ace" because "what difference does it make if they win 8-1 or 8-4, a win is a win"... Then the middle of the lineup struggles for a few games and now half the board wants to blow it up because we're just not good enough.

The way I see it, nothing has really changed since day one. The offense was always thought to be elite and they've proven to be just that despite the recent struggles. The rotation has actually managed to underperform but it's very possible that we'll see a better second half from Hutch and even Dickey. The problem with this team has always been the same and that's the fact that they were going into the season with Stroman as the only front of the rotation type arm. It was never a good idea to lean so heavily on a 23 year old with only 130 MLB innings under his belt.

At the end of the day this is still a 83-85 win team that could go on a hot streak and win close to 90 games and possibly make the playoffs. The chance of that happening is obviously significantly improved if they can improve the pitching staff. So far Alex has never made a mid-season trade to address any of the team's needs so we'll see if he can manage to pull off a move or two without getting completely bent over in the process.

Agreed, the sky is NOT falling.

Would it be a legit move to switch Reyes and Travis in lineup?

I know Reyes has the track record, but his BB% is continuing to fall (4.2%). Last year he walked 6% of the time.

Anyway, it likely won't happen even if he continues to struggle.

You do realize that the nonsense I was quoting to illustrate the overreactions were from your posts, right?

If you are looking at learning data-analysis with python you will also want to learn python libraries numpy, pandas, and scikitlearn.

Yes. This, defiitely this.

The mature libraries for Python are what is probably going to block Julia from really taking off IMO. It should also be noted that the benchmarks posted on Julia's homepage don't incorporate these libraries which are, when compiled, usually faster than what most people can reasonably do in C.

As for books, Wes McKinney's book (he's the guy who wrote Pandas) is a great place to start.

4 stars is probably lower than it should be. It's an intro book focused on the tools. If you understand it's that and only that, then it's great.

What nonsense? Are you so arrogant that everyone else is wrong and you are right, every time?

LOL

If I have to tell you which nonsense then there's just no hope for you.

I find it pretty funny that you're agreeing with me because you translate my post to mean "the sky is NOT falling" when in reality I'm just questioning the logic of fans such as yourself who can't seem to get a grasp on reality.

I don't know what the f*** you are talking about. How about some specifics.

Jays have a good offensive team that would have a chance at postseason/WS with the addition of a couple of Haren like pitchers. Pitchers that would not cost top prospects that the Jays should hold on to. That's my opinion.

Now tell me, oh wise one, what part of this is unrealistic.

Bautista pulled out of the ASG. Good, let him rest. Dozier will replace him.

I was hoping this would happen. Rest should do him well

Plus he's slumping bad

Do you really need me to explain to you why comments like "we don't needs an ace because there's no difference if they win 8-1 or 8-4 since a win is a win" is completely illogical??? Haven't the last couple of weeks shown you that the offense isn't going to score 8 runs every game??

But it is kind of... If the Jays started 5-10 and were 4.5 games back there would be huge concern... But there would also be 145 games left.

The jays have essentially are in this situation with only 70 games left... Playoff odds reflect what has happened...

Flu like symptoms for Donaldson. I'm sure the late finish last night and this heat, haven't helped any. #bluejays

Bautista out of All-Star game. It's related to his shoulder. He will address the media prior to Sunday's game. #bluejays

Bautista should rest. Dude has been playing hurt all season. He deserves it.

Now we just need to convince Donaldson to avoid the home run derby.

I have been trying to figure out what the f*** is wrong with this team...we score a historic amount of runs and get the worst pitching in baseball....the pitching begins to rebound and we can't score a run in 25 innings. Sometimes I truly believe we are cursed, sometimes I think it's my fault for laughing at my dad in 93 when he said "enjoy the winning, they might never make the play offs again in your lifetime" and I laughed at him, told him he was crazy.

Anyway, thank you nextyear for answering my questions...we suck again this year thanks to one of our best players, Devon Travis.

Not sure if serious?

LOL.... if you are going to quote me, quote the whole post. That post made the point that a team with an elite offense does not need to give up 3 top prospects to get Hamels, because a team with average pitching can win with an elite offense. Nobody is going to argue against that.

"Last couple of weeks"... now you are you being reactionary, something you counselled against a few posts ago.

Nowhere did i say the Jays are going to score 8 runs a game. You seem to be trying to find reasons to attack me, by reading things that are not there. Comprehension is clearly a problem for you. Maybe give your head a shake?

That's pretty much saying the same thing again and it's still illogical. I don't want to get into what it'll take to land Hamels but to argue that aquiring someone like him is not necessary because the offense is so great doesn't make any sense.

Nice try but you fail again. I found your statement just as stupid 2 weeks ago as I do today. I was just hoping that you've come to your senses after watching the team get shut down by some good pitchers (last night not included) but I guess I was wrong.

Two options, either it's nothing and they want him to rest which is the smart move or he hurt himself again.

Knowing the Jays, he probably hurt himself again.

I don't understand why they're not hitting 1 and 2

SN is reporting he's just resting his shoulder.

It would be nice to go into the break on a 2 game high and above .500

It'd be even better with a Yankees loss as well going in to the all star break.
