HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Didn't even know this Bautista is 0 for his last 21 Barker suggests he move in the batters box he's been hitting the ball hard. Just bad luck.

baubau Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Didn't even know this Bautista is 0 for his last 21 Barker suggests he move in the batters box I've listened to baseball central every now and then, regret it each time, and Barker is an idiot. Some gold pieces: - Sanchez is the ace of the staff, our best pitcher then a few days later thinks Sanchez is best going to the bullpen (this latter one isn't that dumb, but its funny how he goes from a ace to closer in his head) - Goins has found his approach (after the game where he had a HR last time) I am sure there is more, but I stopped listening. I realized that I can get the same level of stupidity on the TSN/Sportsnet comment section than listen to Barker/Blair. The only real "plus" the show has is when guest speakers like AA show up.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 If this is accurate, the valuation of the Jays franchise has nearly tripled in the last four years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Blue_Jays#Popularity Please note the new TV deal as well in the valuation. All other franchises also saw big gains.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 A smart GM would have played it to the league that now that Navarro is healthy, this team does not have a place for him, and tried to trade him for a small asset. Cola's flukiness is now coming to an end. Seen it many times, as recently as last year with Juan Francisco. Cola is still hitting .302 in June. And most of the Jays are in a slump right now, not just Collabello, mostly because they've faced good pitching in Archer, Buchholz and Gallardo.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Blair says people in Jays front office are "concerned" about Daniel Norris's velocity drop
baubau Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Blair says people in Jays front office are "concerned" about Daniel Norris's velocity drop I don't think Blair likes Norris much lol. He seemed annoyed when the media kept on talking about him and his van pre-season and always brought up the idea of trading him. His daughter must have wanted to date Norris or something.

baubau Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 and now your Blair hate is showing I am not saying I hate Blair. I am just saying that if he was fired from talking about baseball tomorrow I wouldn't miss him. He could be right, he could be wrong. Norris could just have sunk in the Jays eyes or not. I just wouldn't trust him on anything he says.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Derek (Work) LA won't give up Seager or Urias, Boston wouldn't give up Betts or Swihart, what top prospects WOULD get dealt for Hamels? David Schoenfield (2:19 PM) That's the problem. Why give up a Grade A prospect AND take on a big contract? I wouldn't see never. Maybe the Dodgers do trade Urias. Just seems like the Dodgers realize even they need to have SOME low-cost players. For prospects, which teams are most desperate? Maybe the BLue Jays, right. Older team, GM with a job on the line, so maybe you build a package around Daniel Norris, Max Pentecost and another couple of A ball players.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I could see AA doing Norris, Pentecost, and filler for Hamels. Fits right in with the Marlins deal.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 a couple things: 1) I don't really want Hamels 2) Martin is benched for Navarro tonight again. I do not like this.

baubau Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 a couple things: 1) I don't really want Hamels 2) Martin is benched for Navarro tonight again. I do not like this. Martin caught Dickey last night and looked pretty frustrated. He also looks baddd each game after catching Dickey. Not ideal, but understandable. This will be a issue IF this team makes the playoffs..

I assume you don't want Hamels b/c of the money left in his deal? Would you rather see them try and pry away a guy like Quintana who's under control and cheap? Or do you not like playoff baseball? Re: Martin - it looks like they are trying to cut back his playing time a bit more right now to keep him as fresh as possible for later in the year. It also showcases Navarro (unfortunately it showcases how bad he is).

I do not like this. can they throw Navarro into the trash bin please. at this point he's hurting the team more than his assumed trade value would ever be. are we trying to compete or is AA just faking his orgasms to please the bandwagon fans?

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Evident by now Navarro was promised a certain amount of playing time, in return for not being a clubhouse cancer. He's been pretty quiet since ST about a trade. Had a chat with AA.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Guys, Navarro is not being showcased. He's a back-up catcher that the manager and GM both like way too much, and this is what we will have to live with the rest of the season.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 There is a good chance Martin needs a maintenance day... Shouldn't be a regular thing.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 well it's becoming more and more of a regular thing, and that is my issue with it. I understand maybe needing a day off after yesterday though. but if it keeps up like this I would be okay with just pulling the trigger on a navarro trade for whatever they can get and have thole catch once every 5 games. but just as long as he only ever catches dickey. but that argument is played out. as for hamels: I think that kind of move is something you to to help push you over the edge when you are close to a world series title. trading the farm for an arm that *might* help you get to the playoffs (and probably not much more) is just not worth it to me. I would much rather build around a core that shows that it is good enough to make the postseason and maybe even win a series. THEN make a trade for a big name like Hamels. it is a very big risk to trade the future for the present, and we have seen that s***** movie more than enough times. that is just my take on it though!
LTR Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 a couple things: 1) I don't really want Hamels 2) Martin is benched for Navarro tonight again. I do not like this. One thing: "I don't want Hamels" is not a intelligent statement by itself.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I completely understanding benching Martin after catching Dickey, it really f***s with his head. With that said though all of this could have been avoided if we just had Thole/f***ing anyone that can catch the knuckler. Navarro may not be a clubhouse cancer but he's a cancer that infects the lineup almost every day. From stealing DH spots from the regulars, keeping Smoak on the bench, forcing Martin to catch the knuckler, he just hurts this team in so many ways.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 can we trade away dickey, Thole and Navarro and bring up A.J. Jimenez when he is healthy? he's on the 40 man.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 can we trade away dickey, Thole and Navarro and bring up A.J. Jimenez when he is healthy? he's on the 40 man. No one wants Dickey.
