Alex Wood is no Stroman, if that's what you're suggesting. Avilan is meh.

Olivera is a very valuable chip. I think this could make sense for Braves. Alex Wood has a lot of potential downside.

At least Olivera will have a spot to play in Atlanta, likely at 3B. Now if they could move Chris Johnson.. As for Alex Wood, all his peripherals are heading south.. Braves probably know something about Wood, and probably dealt him before that bad thing happens (future arm trouble? Decreased velocity? Declining peripherals?)

Espn was reporting Wood might be gone soon...for Price

Christ the Phillies got a haul. I can't believe someone balked at that demand.

But the Dodgers, holy f***, they got a #3 starter almost for free.

That Dodgers team is not "stupid good." It's barely ahead of the Giants in the standings (and could fall behind them if they lose to the A's tonight.) And they still have the Cubs just behind them in the wild card.

Pederson and Puig are slumping hard.. and it's dragging down the team. Post All-Star break, the Dodgers are a sub-500 team so far.

I think he is saying Assets wise.

There needs to be an MLB only radio station that's just rumour mongering so I have something to listen to.

Here's an MLB Network video stream that does basically exactly that. It crashes from time to time, but it's usually up. Use Stream 2 (Stream 1 is really poor): http://www.stream2watch.co/live-tv/us/mlb-network-live-stream

They get interviews with writers and GMs for every trade, and they share news almost immediately after it breaks.

Oh s***.

Wilmer Flores' effect.

JFaS, this could be your new article!!

And regarding Peraza.. the Dodgers need a replacement 2B for next year, as they will see Kendrick leave via free agency, and is unlikely to return to the Dodgers, as ownership has already said that they will not raise payroll any further (team's at $212.8M for 2016 and in deep in repeater penalties). Young controllable talent needs to be developed.. including guys like Seager, Pederson, Urias, etc..

Sandy Alderson says there is no trade

WTF

This is the kind of thing that gets GMs fired.. this Mets team has to make the playoffs this year or else Alderson and Collins are out the door. Make that deal for Gomez!

So Joel Sherman was wrong here, he said the trade was done. I wish someone kept track of which reporters are wrong about trades.

The trade was agreed upon pending physicals. Carlos Gomez was told he was traded to the Mets.. Flores crying on the field aaftera standing ovation. This is crazy

No it's not, stop pretending you know things.

Oh, Mets... what the hell? Even the Marlins aren't this gongshow-y.

Imagine what must be going through Flores' head right now. Oh, and Gomez too... especially after that selfie.

You don't realize that the Mets are under pressure by ownership to make the playoffs this year. Terry Collins is already on the firing watch, as is Alderson, as the team was supposed to contend by now with all the young pitching and young position players. Unfortunately, some certain ones (i.e. d'Arnaud, Lagares) keep getting hurt.

They needed that Gomez deal.. Lagares has regressed badly this year offensively and defensively.

Another plus for AA and his front office not leaking things. It might be frustrating for fans but it prevents a gong show.

Yes, he keeps deals secret.. and we end up with big deals like Donaldson and Tulowitzki. Now let's hope he has a secret deal for a pitcher coming that is really good and controllable..

IIRC, the Mets can't even take on money right now due to ownership having to pay off debts from the Madoff scandal. Could be part of the reason why they blocked any trade for Carlos Gomez.

What did the Mets do wrong here? Joel Sherman messed up.

It clearly wasn't agreed upon, pending physicals. Do the Brewers have special televisions that let them run physicals on opposing players while they're playing? I don't think so lol

Brewers might have backed out after reviewing Wheelers medical information? I dont know. The whole thing is weird

So any word on why Ross and Kemp were taken out of SD's game or was it just dehydration?

I read Ross was taken out a little bit after getting hit by a comebacker. Not sure about kemp

The healthy approach to a teammate getting traded:

Martin Maldonado: On the fly saying bye to a friend the Latin combo @C_Gomez27 @WilyPeralta38 @88_gparra
