flafson Verified Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I saw an interesting question in DaveCameron's chat on FG the other day. Saying that when a team is leading by such a large margin that the stats accumulated should barely count towards WAR. If Jeff Francour is pitching is that really fair to count hits off him the same as Cole Hamels? Happens with the Jays this year I notice as well. When the team is up by 4 or 5 runs the opposing team will just put some crap pitcher in and the Jays score another 4-5 runs blowing them out. It's about leverage situations. Last night when they let that rookie pitch, we had a ~97.4% of winning, so adding 5 runs did almost zero towards WAR.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 What is the jays record in 1 run games? Really bad.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Really bad. I can't seem to find it anywhere err. Imagine where this team would be had to had just a .500 record in 1 run games

LTR Verified Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Winning 17-3 tonight FFS Phillies are literally the worst team in baseball now I just assumed they (management) are trying to be the worst team in baseball... that rotation is a bunch of Jo-Jo Reyes' outside of Hamels.

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 O's lose to Phillies 2-1. Papelbon with the save.
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Even the lowly Phillies can win 1 run games.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 O's lose to Phillies 2-1. Papelbon with the save. Well, it means the Jays will be a game ahead of the O's if they beat Colon and the Mets. Now let's hope the Fish beat the Yankees and the Dodgers clobber the Rangers(good chance--Anthony Ranaudo is starting for the Rangers, who sucked last time.) Bad news though.. Twins beat the Cards on a Kennys Vargas walk-off HR.

I think he'll go downhill quickly and be released by this time next year.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Sandoval has his world series rings and his big contract. Hes checked out. No idea why the Red Sox wanted him hes basically a platoon player thats going to need to be moved off third. Red Sox always seem to bring these guys in. He already had enough problems keeping himself in shape. By the way clearly not working. This Red Sox team has so many problems. Hanley is probably going to to have to play 1B especially if Napoli doesn't start hitting. The Red Sox front office needs to be completely gutted. Cherington and his assistants Hazen and O'Hollaran need to go, and take Farrell with them. They need a new front office that focuses on baseball and player development, and doesn't make stupid signings (HanRam, Sandoval, A-Gone, Crawford, etc.) or makes bad trades (that Reddick deal, Miley, Porcello..) Unfortunately, the ownership seems committed with Cherington and Farrell, so things aren't going to get better anytime soon. And I still think ownership is going to do a Hamels trade because they think they'll contend in 2016.. what the Red Sox need right now is a major rebuild both in the front office and on the roster.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Not that it's hurt Lagares, but he is playing hurt: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/105231/terry-collins-alludes-to-ligament-tear-in-juan-lagares-elbow He may need Tommy John surgery down the line.. it's hurt his throwing, which is reflecting in his dWAR(0.0).
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Both Yankees and Rays winning now. Disgusting.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 At least we gain a game on the Orioles. Thought for sure they'd sweep Philly. Every team in the East suddenly starts winning when they face mediocre teams.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 ^ I just cant believe what the Rays are doing, makes me continously sick
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 f***ing TB, they deal Price, lose half their rotation to injuries, and still produce one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. Chris Archer is unbelievable.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I still think the Rays finish fourth in the AL East when all is set and done., this team has the 2nd worst home record in the East (only Boston is worse), and they don't have the offensive depth to make a deep run in the AL East, especially once they start facing their own division again. Pitching and defense will only take you so far, especially if they don't hit. And Cash's bullpen usage is going to cost him by July/August.. they've thrown the most innings in the MLB. They also have losing records vs. the O's and Yankees, plus even though we've had trouble with them, the Jays lineup has changed dramatically since April.. this is a far better team than what the Rays faced then. Plus, Odorizzi isn't starting. As it stands, the Rays rotation will be TBA(likely a bullpen game with Andriese coming in after 2 innings), Archer and Karns. The Rays are going to have a tough weekend with the Indians..Carrasco/Kluber/Bauer vs. Karns/Erasmo/Colome.
