jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Concerning news for Boston regarding Xander Bogaerts' knee.. in addition, Rusney Castillo is out a few weeks with right shoulder inflammation caused by a diving play in AAA Pawtucket. Losing Bogaerts to the DL could be a problem.. they have no natural SSs on the 40-man, and nobody that could be moved to the 60-day DL(Vazquez is already on the 60). They'd have to DFA someone just to purchase a contract right now.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I prayed for Betts to get injured, not Bogaerts!

There isn't a limit to how many guys can be on the 60 day DL, they can have 10 guys on there they'd just need to clear 10 40 man spaces when a player returns.

That's not the issue. You have to have somebody that's a long-term injury before using the 60-day DL. And right now, Boston does not have that, unless Brandon Workman's elbow injury results in Tommy John Surgery. And Edwin Escobar is expected back soon, so he's not a 60-day option. And of course, Boston already used Vazquez's 60-day DL stint to add Sandy Leon.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Hanley to short. Craig to LF. Nothing to see here. Not gonna happen. Hanley's had zero reps at SS this year, and is terrible defensively at SS anyway.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Bogaerts has been their best player so far. He's poised for a pretty big breakout season, would be a big blow to them to lose him for any lengthy period of time.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Rios out long term with a broken hand. pretty big loss
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco carted off field after being hit in head by a line drive.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Justin Masterson just blew a 5-1 lead and now it's tied at 5. Where have we seen this before with him? And just like that, Ogando just gave a 2-run double to CF Michael Taylor..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 And now HanRam's at 3rd instead of LF, as Sandoval's foot hurts after a HBP. Better not be broken.. or we'll seeing either Holt or Garin Cecchini at 3B in Boston for several weeks. And we're still waiting on Bogaerts' MRI on the knee.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 And yet, the Red Sox win because the Nats keep shooting themselves in the foot with errors (blame Blake Treinen for this.)
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Indians designated Marcum. Now will the Jays take a chance on him? Doubt it, but he could still be an OK 5th starter.
fireballW Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 We get burned with high fastball all the time and it seems when our pitchers even throw hem by accident they are effective, yet it seems we sooo rarely call for our pitchers to throw high fastballs. They really need to start.

If he gets his walking papers, I bet AA gets him on a minor league contract... I don't see a trade or something that results in him on the 40 man right away.

I don't see a trade or something that results in him on the 40 man right away. He's been very available before and nothing happened. Either AA hates him or he hates AA. Possibly a bit of both. I would love for the hatchet to be buried but it ain't happening.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Cruz with his 5th home run of the season, good start with the bat for him.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Another bad Red Sox SP.. Wade Miley got lit up badly vs. the Nats: 2.1 IP, 5H, 7ER!, 3BB, 1K, 1 HR given up to Ian Desmond. Buchholz, Masterson and Miley have been terrible.. putting a ton of pressure on an overworked Red Sox bullpen (32.2IP, 2nd highest next to the Yankees.)
fireballW Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 We need our big three to wake up and get us out to an early lead while these other teams struggle with their pitching.

Hard to give up 7 ER with only 8 hits+bbs... Edit: I guess less difficult when it's only over 2.1...
