I predicted 1/6 and some people did go with one or two years. Cyborg had 1/1.

I'm of two minds with Pelf. One, he is bad and has a recent injury history. Two, is he that much worse than Mike Leake? Maybe not. The market for innings-eating #4 guys can get expensive really quickly. There is a disconnect between $/WAR thrown around for position players vs. for innings eaters. It can be hard to predict these guys.

I went with 1/$3M but mostly as a joke. I definitely didn't think he was getting more than 1 year.

No, I'll be doing the first one next Spring if I don't screw up the upcoming exams lol.

But yeah, if you're working at the same time, prepare to NOT sleep during each semester! Lol

That sounds awful lol, which electives are you doing? I think I'll choose Assurance and Tax.

Yay Pelf.

At least you collected some points. Boxcar didn't at 3/36.

Not sure what I was thinking there

The pitching market in general is weird too in that there are a limited number of possible contracts. Contracts like Jordan Zimmermann's are much rarer than you'd think. Pitchers don't get five years. Pitchers fit into one of the following:

- 7/210 (the new top end)

- 6/156 (for slightly older aces)

- 4/60 (for mid-rotation ~31 year olds)

- 2/26 (mid-rotation, short track record or back-end, long track record)

- 1/10 (buy-low mid-rotation type)

Mike Pelfrey is the question "how much is 1 WAR worth right now in the free agent market?" incarnate.

Do we even know that all 30 front offices use WAR in their contract decision-making processes? I'm not sure that's true. It's entirely conceivable that the Tigers don't care about WARZ at all and just want those innings eaten.

Well someone like Terry Ryan would probably fire you if you mentioned WAR.

They may not all use VORP or WAR or WARP or whatever they call it but those concepts are still exactly what every team is trying to buy, even if they don't explicitly think about it that way.

You have a bunch of assignments to hand in, a mandatory two-day session to attend, and then you show up to the exam. Core 1 & 2 = 3 hour exams. They're 60% multiple choice and the rest is case writing basically.

Interesting. Thanks for that. How are the assignments, what do they involve? Are they just financial reporting?

No prob. Assignments for Core 1 are just financial reporting with a little finance and tax, Core 2 is mainly management accounting... The Assurance exam is mainly audit with financial reporting...

The assignments are just cases... But you need to do them properly or they won't let you write the exam at the end of the semester.

Lackey signing with the Cubs for 2 years 32-34 mil according to Rosenthal. That's a nice deal for the Cubs.

Damn thats a nice deal. Wonder if he didn't want to come to the Jays since its in Canada. I would of given him 38 maybe 40 million
