Took me 20 years to figure out that I hated what I did (I'm slow, 20 years is also my timeline to rebuild in the DDL...or just my timeline). Going back to school probably wasn't necessary for me to work in sport but for me personally it was, as I want to be open to everything possible. Nothing really more to add here just wanted to give you all an update of my life.

What do you do for work and why did you have to go back to school?

I worked in compliance in the investment industry for 12 years, and in education for a health charity prior to that. I went back to school for Sport Management. I now know that I probably had the contacts in sport to get a job somewhere but the jobs I had applied for when I decided to leave CIBC I didn't get. For me going back to school was my "all in" I wouldn't fall back into the money trap of investments if I committed time.

That's awesome. Just wondering... do you currently work for a professional sports organization? Did it work out for you?

Interestingly, Aoki actually got a decent little raise after getting 1 year older, dealing with concussion issues, and having a cheap option declined.

$5.5M in '16, 6M player option in '17 if hits easily attainable playing time figure. 1.5M incentives each yr.

Should be a good thing in terms of Revere having a little bit of trade appeal, since he's at the same talent level but 6 years younger.

There should be a ranked-preference matching system for careers and education coming out of high school.

Students rank preferences and are assigned a partial government scholarship to:

- A certain degree

- A certain apprenticeship

- A certain job (employee and employer would both be given some benefit in the form of tax credits, a wage addition, or whatever).

The assignment is based on:

- Job market needs (projected and present)

- Student's aptitudes

- Student's preferences

And students would still be free to do anything they want, they just forfeit the scholarship/subsidy if they don't accept their "Socially Recommended Workforce Training Assignment".

Boom.

Hire me, government.

Name NJH to the senate. He has to keep his screen name though, and be known as Senator NJH.

Padres continue to try to push James Shields in the trade market. Owed $63 million over the next three seasons.

With a 3 WAR projection for 2016, Shields should reasonably be expected to be worth a bit more than his remaining contract.

Some team should want him.

He also has a $16M / $2M buyout option for 2019. So that adds some upside for a team, if he stays effective.

Jays don't have an open job right not but they also don't have any real innings eaters younger than Methuselah. This might be worth considering.

I graduate in May. I have zero desire to work in pro sport. My initial desire was to work for something like Right to Play and travel to third world countries and develop sport. Now I've got the games bug. I'd like to work short term contracts in major games. Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia is my short term goal. Knowing these contracts are short-term, I've started to develop my service business here in Toronto. I currently have a gig in sponsorship and just this morning got a proposal to run an event honouring Boxing's Olympians.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I'm currently going through a bit of a "what the f*** am I doing?" phase right now, and I always like to hear stories like yours.

Nice! Are you taking one of those tech-related programs at a local college like you were thinking about a few months ago?

I'm going to Sheridan (hopefully)

Amazing how these institutions hold you to your high school grades more than a decade later.

Haha yeah I know it sucks. I'm considering going to night school/summer school because I don't have the Calculus credit and I might need it for certain programs.
