I would find it hilarious if not for the fact that the ASG dictates home field advantage in the World Series.

Just have to hope that the Royals can beat the Cardinals in a one off game! It's basically a coin flip, regardless...

I honestly want the ASG to be the Royals v/ the Cardinals. It will just highlight how f***ing stupid the process is and possibly instigate some changes.

Ditto mate. A fallacy if I ever seen it, but looks like Cabrera and our JD might take over very soon.

at least its not in the division

As long as he stays away from the Yankees and Red Sox. For the Rangers, it wouldn't just be for next season.. it would be for beyond as well, as several pitchers, including Yu Darvish, will be returning. And they have a shot of making the postseason in the weak AL. (they're only 1 game back of the Yankees/Twins, and 3 back of Houston.)

Texas is doing better than I realized. Over .500 and one game out of the wild card with Darvish and Holland on the shelf. Hamels and Holland will help them make a second half run and that rotation will be pretty sick when Darvish comes back next year.

After last night's Jays game, Rays attendance now stands at an average of 14,131 (worst since 2005, and approaching the 2002-03 levels that nearly drove the team to bankruptcy.) Rays fans need to get their butts to the Trop.. this is going to lead to the team trading off major pieces either at the deadline, even if they're in contention, or after this season (their payroll outlook features significant hikes in payroll coming in 2017, and the low attendance will likely force them to lower payroll even lower than the current $73.6M ($85-86M with benefits), even if they get a new TV deal.

It was sad to see how few people were there last night. For a 1st place team! Attendance was said to be 10k, but I think that's a stretch

The worst stadium and the worst located stadium in baseball are one and the same. Hard to imagine how that's ever going to work out.

It was so quiet there that I honestly thought there was something wrong with the broadcast numerous times.

When Forsythe homered, I hollered to my wife "Nice! Who homered?" because there was no crowed cheering I assumed the Jays hit it.

I swear it was closer to 5000 at best.. the stadium was so empty. The Rays are likely inflating the attendance number by including season ticket holders, which there aren't many. Real attendance is likely 1/2 of what was reported.

I'm pretty sure it is Canadia related.

According to a report yesterday, Hamels apparently blocked a trade to Houston as well.

I think the Rays are a lost cause in St. Pete. I don't think they'll ever sell that place out; not just because it's a bad stadium in a bad location, but because I don't think the fans actually exist. It would be one thing if fans were making up for the lack of attendance at the stadium by swarming online boards, but the Rays might have one of the smallest online presence of any MLB team as well. For a team that has no online presence and has nobody in their seats, I don't see where they can go to try and appeal to fans to come out to watch the games. Who knows, maybe they have great TV ratings from a very large amount of people who don't know what the internet is.

I mean, do you ever see anyone on the Rays boards? They're frequently empty with few posts. Yet here, we get tons of posts. Same with the O's and Yanks and Red Sox.

As for the Rays, if we actually saw their finances, they're likely losing boatloads of money right now, even with revenue sharing and a TV deal.

d'Arnaud back on DL again(left elbow injury), Johnny Monell recalled. Sooner or later, the Mets are going to give up on him and give Plawecki the job full time if he can't stay healthy for a full season.. now that the Jays have Martin, the d'Arnaud trade doesn't sting as much.. but still giving up Syndergaard hurts (providing the Mets don't trade him for a big bat like Tulowitzki or Carlos Gomez or something like that).

Rusney Castillo experiment has ended in Boston. Erik Kratz, the great pitch framer, replaces him on the roster along with Justin Masterson(albeit temporarily until Swihart is 100%). $72M down the drain so far..

Zack Hample wants the Yankees to make a charitable donation to the charity that he's already raised more than $40,000 for in exchange for A-Rod's baseball. But I thought this board taught me he was a low-life douchebag who lived off his parents' money?

Whoops.

I say this will bump each of their votes by a million over the next week for the all-star.

He did previously say on two separate occasions that he would not give him the ball.

How's their farm system

I am not a scouting expert like the rest of the peeps here but from what I've herd, they have a pretty decent and deep farm system that they could probably move a few pieces and not really hurt/cripple the team heading forward.

he's done this before. If he holds out it's easier to get a good donation. lol

not like A-rod can't afford it. Arod is making almost $50 every minute of every day of the year. He can donate an hour of his wages instead of offering a jersey or signed bat.
