I really hope you guys just saw that Espinosa play to preserve Scherzer's perfect game through 8 innings.

I love it. That popup to left-centre had me worried!

Great play by Espinosa to keep the no-no intact!

Scherzer PERFECT through 8 innings!!! Only at 92 pitches!

If only we could have had a player like that....o wait we could have

Wow. Scherzer gets the no-hitter, but loses the perfect game with 1 out left.

He hit Tabata on the elbow, who basically leaned into the pitch.

Wow Tabata... bush league

bush league for getting hit? Come on

People who say he leaned in have no idea what it means

#fysmc Jose Tabata. That's bush league. In a 6-0 game when a pitcher is one out away from tossing a perfect game, you don't lean into that pitch. What a f***ing moron. I've lost all respect for the man.

Did you see it yourself? He leaned into it with his elbow pad

I understand in a close 1-0 or 2-0 game, sure try and get on-base anyway you can. But when it's a 6-0 game, seriously!

Ever hitter "leans in" when the pitch is being delivered, that's all he did, he didn't significant alter his movements to get his elbow in line with the path of the ball. He kind of leaned down but that's a natural reaction to the ball coming up and in at you

He absolutely leaned in. Clearly you weren't watching.

You're being an idiot. Look at the situation

I was watching, there's no leaning in, his movements are no different than how the average batter reacts on a pitch up and in. Blame Scherzer for going inside with a perfect game on the line, he should have known the risk of HBP when he decided to do that.

Just stop

whatever, its just crazy that people are blaming the hitter for doing what hitters always do. If you think Tabata did something drastically different from what hitters do on a pitch like that then you don't know s*** about baseball.

you say "leaning in"(and its actually leaning down if anything) others would say he's getting elbow out of the way. There's plenty of HBP that occur as a hitter is trying to get away from the ball. Leaning in means moving towards plate and getting line with the path of the baseball, where does he do that.

I think knowing the situation in a 6-0 game with two outs, you don't try to mess with history being made in that type of way which is bush league. Sure get a base hit or walk on 4 pitches. Don't lean into a pitch which he could have easily got out of the way of. In a 1-0 or 2-0 game, sure I don't have a problem with it since your goal as the hitter is to get on-base anyway you can to get the tying or go-ahead run to the plate in that situation, though in a 6-0 game get real!

For me Armando Galarraga and Max Scherzer have thrown perfect games, regardless of what the box score says.
