Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Reds Manager Bryce Price and Yordana were talking via whatsapp this morning.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Today Buck said he doesn't see how you can play Saunders. "I know [saunders] is a lefty, but Pillar has been playing well. He has 8 RBI and has some highlight reel catches. Maybe Saunders against the tough righties." Thank god Tabler isn't in charge of this team.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I always play the White Sox broadcast when the Jays play the Sox. Tabler and Buck talk too much and never say anything that is genuinely interesting. Everyone will like this one: +100 Hawk may be annoying and a bottom tier broadcaster but Buck and Pat are as bad as it gets. Technically bad AND stylistically bad.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I just hope Saunders stays healthy. My expectations are quite low. If he can help us at all I will be extremely thrilled. hope he can at least play while Jose is out. the idea of Goins and Valencia in LF regularly is cringe worthy

I'm not great at stats but have a general understanding and I know that those two are spewing s*** when they try to talk about advanced metrics. Some guy in the truck gives them a post it with the stats and they pretend to understand. it just confuses fringe fans.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Yea hopefully Bautista can atleast DH. Our OF defense improves with Saunders so if nothing else we have that. Valencia did fine today, but he wasn't really tested and Goins had an ugly day out there yesterday. You'd think a SS would be better than that. after all he f***ed up on picking up a ball that was standing still and doesn't know what base to throw too???
Caper Verified Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Unless Dan Shulman is replacing them I don't mind Buck and Pat that much. Obviously they say dumb things but it doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother you guys. I find it funny when Buck f***s up. I do to. I love when he gets me all excited for a warning track fly ball. Their fine. The guy with Zaun is good.

You just have to hope that one of them isn't running your favourite team.

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 f*** Ventura. So tired of his BS. I wish Shark or Sale could teach him a lesson. Hawk Harrelson is a vet. At least he doesn't give false hopes to Sox fans on warning track flyballs like Buck does ()'

I'd just go with Valencia in LF over Goins every time, he's capable enough and at least a legitimate hitter whereas Goins can't hit at all. Even against RHP he has major league ABs, can't say the same for Goins.

He looked really bad to be honest (not bad for his first start there but overall really bad). That last catch... he made a routine catch look tough because he slid... he didn't start tracking it until it was nearly at him. He might get better but Valencia should NEVER be playing the OF and facing the righties, that's just god awful roster management.... neither of those two thing is beneficial to the team winning.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Just saw the fight. Ventura and co lucked out when Lawrie took the high road both times and then they start s*** again. A pitcher needs to suffer a serious injury one of these days for drilling a defenseless hitter. Did anyone else catch Boni pull Ventura off to the side and talk him down..the guy just punked your teammate and you're going to act all buddy buddy with him just because of his nationality
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I'm actually starting to enjoy Ventura and his crazy antics as long as no seriously gets hurt. We need some unlikable players in the league since MLB has started a vendetta against Arod

I didn't feel like he was acting against the interest of his team by doing that.

He made every play he needed to out there. Sure, he won't be winning any gold golves, but he showed he's serviceable out there. I disagree with the sliding part. He wasn't trying to make it look tough, thats what you do as an outfielder on a sinking liner to get low enough to avoid reaching on the run. In terms of him facing a righty, who gives a f***, he went 1-3 with a walk

When a ball dies on you, or slices funny, or is popped a mile in the air when it's windy, etc., it can make the most talented outfielders look silly when making the catch. I don't hold those things against Valencia. And I like his bat in the line up against specific pitchers.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 dude is horrific to listen to. Harrelson is known for his homerism (open expression of pro-home team bias) and catch phrases, also known as "Hawkisms". Popular "Hawkisms" include: "You can put it on the board! Yes! Yes!" after a Sox home run, "He gone!" and/or "Grab some bench!" after a strikeout of an opposing player, and "Stretch!" when a White Sox player hits a ball toward the outfield fence. Hawk often states "Sacks packed with Sox" when the bases are loaded I don't really get why people get so upset with these types of phrases.......If you listened to every home game, they would get very repetitive (like the come together commercials during Jays games), but I see nothing wrong with it.

I'm honestly very surprised there isn't a thread dedicated to quotes by Buck and Tabby......they....are....awful.
